Hostile to whom? Both Canada and the EU seem to be mutually friendly.

He likes to throw threats around because his dementia makes him believe that if he says something and looks "threatening" enough everyone will obey but... what he's failing to realise he is the American version of the Roman emperor Nero and soon after the empire fell and even though he is "in charge" of one of the most powerful countries in the world he doesn't really have the power he believes he has.
They need to offer it to Mexico too, just to really piss off Trump.
Then we can start referring to North America as "Western Europe". Just need someone to keep him distracted with a map and a sharpie

Yes, that is certainly a worry. But I have confidence that the EU and Canada have factored that possible reaction into their calculations and prepared accordingly.

Trump threatens when you're friendly and cooperative with him. He threatens when you walk away. At this point it's just background noise.

Trump wants to annex Canada. In his delusions he thought he could force it to happen by applying economic pressure despite everyone expect his inner circle of sycophants told him. Now that he's realizing that it's not going to happen he's throwing a tantrum.

The quoted 'hostile' in the headline seems like it should be part of what Trump said, but the article doesn't include any quote like that. This is all the Trump quotes it's got:

Really though, I can't wait to see what happens if Alberta leaves Canada, if they do Canada is so fucked.
Hopefully that Florida based company pumping out Alberta separatist propaganda isn’t successful.
It's be way shittier for Alberta than it would be for Canada...
