Question About Links and Voting Rules

Hi everyone. I have a question about the rules and would like to understand them better.

If someone posts content and includes a link to their own website simply to show the original source and allow others to verify the information, is that considered self-promotion or spam?

Recently, I did something similar and received a 24-hour restriction for supposedly engaging in “self-voting.” However, I did not ask anyone to vote, upvote, or artificially interact with my post.

What exactly is considered “self-voting” in this situation? And if there is uncertainty about whether a rule was violated, wouldn’t it be better to warn the user or ask for clarification first?

I’m simply trying to understand the rules better so I can avoid similar issues in the future. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
