()() = not a palindrome
())( = somehow allowed to be a palindrome

:(

Your right - That is some bullshit right there.

[-] M137@lemmy.today 17 points 3 days ago

You're*

HOW IS IT SO HARD TO GET RIGHT!?

[-] Sarcasmo220@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 days ago

Because typos and autocorrect exist?

[-] turdburglar@piefed.social 4 points 3 days ago

so does the edit button.

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago

yeah, his right

[-] zitrone@europe.pub 19 points 3 days ago

qoop and bood are also not a palindromes, but poop and boob are |Ö|

[-] Bonsoir@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 days ago

There should be a class of word that is symmetric given a certain font.

[-] igmelonh@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 days ago

Of note are mirror ambigrams. Particularly vertical axis mirror ambigrams, in this instance. That is, words that could be read by reflecting the design. Basile Morin has a list of ambigrams -- mirror and otherwise -- that they've designed on their website here.

[-] lugal@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago

Neither are QOOP or BOOD

[-] LemmyPlaceDN@europe.pub 7 points 3 days ago

Why do people look younger on older pictures??

[-] Rokin@leminal.space 3 points 3 days ago

That's crazy...

111/37 = 3

In case anyone was wondering

[-] shweddy@lemmy.world 19 points 3 days ago
[-] Banana@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 days ago

depends on the base

11/3 could also be 1

[-] shweddy@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

Base mixing is my favorite

[-] urushitan@kakera.kintsugi.moe 2 points 3 days ago

Is this that “freebasing?” my sketchy uncle keeps talking about?

[-] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 12 points 3 days ago

37 = 30 + 7 -> (30 + 7)*3 = 90+21=111

"is divisible by 37" is one of those statements that only lunatics think about

[-] cybervseas@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

Need an ACABus

[-] alt_xa_23@midwest.social 11 points 3 days ago

777 = 3 * 7 * 37

[-] Th4tGuyII@fedia.io 13 points 3 days ago

35x3 = 105, 2x3 = 6, 105+6 = 111

That feel so wrong somehow, yet the maths entirely checks out

[-] wieson@feddit.org 9 points 3 days ago
[-] sudo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

1 + 1 + 1 = 3 (the sum of all of the digits)

3 is divisible by 3

111 is divisible by 3

[-] Kraiden@piefed.social 10 points 3 days ago

I'm OOL here clearly. What do 111 and 37 represent here?

[-] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 3 days ago

Nothing. Its common to exaggerate and say that should be illegal or the like, and saying the police dont do anything about it is the same. The math is just unintuitive and feels like it shouldnt be true, and since police were mentioned i felt the need to say acab

Youre reading into it too much its a shitpost its not that smart or clever. You gotta think dumber

[-] Kraiden@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago

Ah. I'd say "woosh" but it kinda went under my head, not over it. Thanks for explaining

[-] gnufuu@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Divide by 37 and conquer

[-] Klear@piefed.world 6 points 3 days ago

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
