He’s not even the leader of his own bowels.
Literally can't get his shit together.
He never was a leader just a puppet.
It's just more American defaulting to claim that the USA was ever the "leader of the free world".
They have only ever been acting in their on self interest.
Ok, this skewers the American downfall properly, but it goes on to suck another politician's dick.
Maybe Mark Carney is really as cool as this guy says, but he's a politician, and as such almost certainly guilty of some con or another. As a whole, this piece reads like it was put out by Carney's PR dept.
As a Canadian Carney is a conservative in the way our progressive conservative party used to be. All his financial policies are textbook conservative/liberal policies that focus on corporate growth and rights vs environment or people. The man has been the leader of 2 Central Banks. He's just a less despicable person than his competition was
I think sometimes you need the right person at the right time. Carney is this way with me. His specialty is exactly what he's doing now - growing trade agreements and partnerships excluding the USA. I think he's a smart man, I don't think he's an evil man, but he's also a money guy. That last one always seems to have pitfalls.
In any other political environment I'd prefer someone else more focused on the working class, medical care, the environment. At the moment we really need someone willing to stand up to the USA and redirect the country away from the USA. We need that now. So far he's been good on this.
We have to choose our battles and when to fight them.
While I agree in principle with this Carney is working on undoing decades of advancement that we have made because people are giving him this benefit of the doubt. While his trade work is very important things like privatizing airport will cause irreparable harm for decades to come. I think we can defend ourselves and grow trade without resorting to gutting the things that make humans lives better.
Not his fault everyone around him are a gaggle of Fuck ups.
No one is guilty of doing the right thing all the time, insofar a whatever 'right' is, all anyone can hope for is to be a net positive. I think he's met that bar at least, there's certainly far worse, even if the neolib policies are a slow march into fascism without any thought about infinite growth cancer as an economic endpoint. That's a different conversation tho
