Climate change, fascism, being mislead and lied to by school system that thought I was a lost cause.
I’m not demoralized by the problems the world faces. I’m demoralized by people’s active efforts against solving them, or encouraging making them worse. Racism above economic benefits for all. More expensive gas vehicles over the multitude of transport options that don’t pollute our environment.
In history books, I read stories about how the world had to band together to win WW2; for instance, stories about sharing used nylons to make parachutes, or how the modern post office was reinvented. As horrible as war was, I miss when people would actually try. It disgusts me that a great many people just know that you-know-who lies on the regular and still support him.
I don’t even hate him so strongly. I hate what he showed of our world as a litmus test, and it’s made it hard to trust that world again.

There are a few handfuls of expansionist narcissistic oligarchs, dictators and uber rich that ruin the experience for everyone else.
Seriously, we hang a few dozen very specific guys from the gallows and literally the world would be saved the next day. All of the sudden genocides are over, we can focus fully on stopping climate change, we can form a UN that can enforce peace, we can implement wealth caps where nobody gets crazy rich anymore.. Can you imagine?
Seriously... That is the weirdness of the problem. We have a few people with so much power that 8 billion of us have their lives ruined by at most a few hundred
I would change John Lenno's "imagine" to "imagine we hang the parasite class and implemented wealth caps, it isn't hard to do"
Would you go regional for example each country has to pick 10 specific arseholes, or would you pick a number and pick 200 or so despite location?
And do you think there is a ranking system say politician, warmonger, Tech-bro, media owner, CEO and so on?
I think this is an actual use for AI, to analyse these scenarios and figure removing which figure benefits humanity the quickest.
Mh sorry but there are FAR FAR more, like orders of magnitude, people that make it worse for everyone else just so they can have even the slightest advantage (or even just so others have none).
Because all of these moneymen and salesmen have their collective boots on my throat. I can't just go outside and play anymore what with all of the cameras and evil groups concerned about why I might be outside.
Everything keeps getting further away economically. It’s like those dolly zoom shots in cinema where the camera keeps the subect in the same spot but the background rapidly recedes. I keep trying to move forward, but it feels like we’re not getting anywhere.
Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!

Almost every issue I have right now goes back to billionaires, fascism, or capitalism. The last two years have been the most difficult of my life so far, and literally existential. I just nearly avoided statelessness and now I can't legally work following a layoff, so I've been living off of savings
Capitalism, religion, and being born the wrong gender.
Progressive health problems are progressing. Slowly losing my life more and more to these awful diseases. Every month another small capability dies, and my life shrinks again.
I try to focus on the short term, living day to day. That isn't so bad, I'm reasonably happy. But sometimes I look up and remember the cliff edge approaching. I think that would disturb anybody.

I don't make a large enough salary to save for a home, take vacations, or save enough to not be homeless in retirement. The country I reside in is currently undergoing a fascist takeover and considers its citizens chattel to further enrich the wealthy elites.
I'm lonely and hate myself, and I hate myself too much to move towards not being lonely.
Also I'm in the Navy, and I work insane hours.
Because 46 and lost remote job, and after working a year from home dread having to go into work. Especially with gas what it is and I live in shit hole state with no public transportation. Add to the fact that I must try find work in this economy while dealing with ageism. Just fucking hate this shit.
Keep fighting. I got laid off twice in the past two years and managed to find new gigs each time. I'm about the same age. Programmer.
I worked in a remote job 2021-2025, large organization, layoffs (or "impacts" is the newspeak word I guess) in Feb. Job hunting was a real rollercoaster, but I found a local company that sounded promising.
It seemed fine at first, in-office but a short commute that I didn't mind. But...laid off again in early March. Another year, another job hunt. Even more of a rollercoaster. But I did manage to get another remote gig working as an independent contractor for another large organization.
It's not ideal, but it is possible. You've got skills and experience. There are still jobs out there that need doing even if you have to wade through more bullshit to get there.
I'm programmer all I got is Property and Casualty license and 26 plus years of customer service experience. Which is in short supply now due to AI.
I don't really have any complaints, I'm just not a very happy person

Fight or flight... avoid or smash... I think everybody is trying to find stable. If not it is a loop spun by a unhealthy environment. Internalize or not. The worm lives for now. On top of that we are all mortal which depending might be good. We are all waiting in line. You would have to define happy in great detail. Maybe there should be a word that encompasses healthy inline with the natural world.
