For legal reasons I must clarify this dunk is exclusively for this silly strain of online anarchism I see, where people don't account for things like "supply chains" or "the murderous imperialists that will decend upon you the moment you become a threat to capitalism".
Okay, but the post at the bottom reads like it's encouraging people to become more self-reliant...while the post at the top appears to be retorting with 'Oh yeah? Well then someone will just come kill you then. 😤'
Like what even is this? You do know that people garden, right? There are even folks who go entirely off the grid. If someone shows up to kill you for that, kill them first. That's gonna be the only answer whether there are governments or supply chains or whatever.
Is it just the presence of the A-word breaking your brain?
"Anarchist supply chains" makes it pretty clear that they think this model somehow replaces global supply chains. If they didn't mean that, they wouldn't have said it, and I think you're at the point of basically ignoring the stated intent to invent a reason to feel outraged.
Yes, the dunk of "Well I'll just come and kill you" is juvenile and silly, but so is the original post.

Except that the common refrain from anarchists when asked why their attempts at forming a society failed is that they would've gotten away with it too if only some other group hadn't attacked them.
Who are all these anarchists you're talking to?
People like the person in the screenshot who made that comic. They're around if you look for them. I generally dont like bashing other tendencies as long as we agree on the important stuff, but this one was funny. You will typically be able to spot them in threads about electorialism or threads critiquing Nato. Or I assume those are the types @yogthos@lemmy.ml are talking about. If it is a common occurrence to them, then they should have no issue finding a quick link to some comment or other.
there was a thread just a few days ago, but the post got deleted since https://lemmy.ml/post/52784140
A supply chain and a global supply chain aren't the same though. Growing your own food is a supply chain. Encouraging others to do so reduces reliance on the global supply chain, but isn't claiming that they are one and the same.
Right and when people discuss supply chains within a system of governance do you think they are discussing the supply chain of milk from your fridge to your mouth, or how the society (and not just you) is to be supplied with raw materials, foodstuffs, processed goods, manufactured goods, water, electricity, heating, transport, education, medical aid, medicine, and so on?
The OG meme is an old one that gets shared once in a while. It is some dumbass trying to make a clever counterargument to the question of how an anarchist society would handle the complex needs of a modern society. The response is a similar low-effort rebuttal that points out the incredibly naive and individualistic approach to the function of society laid out by the "anarchist".
If someone shows up to kill you for that, kill them first
Hell yeah dude, you're 12
At what age does one decide to not defend oneself from an attack?
I don't want to live in a kill-or-be-killed world, I want to participate in a society run scientifically to suit the needs of everyone and maximize everyone's individual potential.
I feel like this entire discussion - from the initial post all through the comments - is just strawmanning. I never said I want to live in a kill-or-be-killed world. I said that if someone shows up at your home to kill you and take your shit, you can either: defend yourself, call the cops, and/or cower in fear until they kill you. I'm of the belief that even if you believe the cops will save you, your odds are slim they reach you in time. So the idea of police being a 'checkmate' argument is foolish to me. You're either prepared to put up a resistance or you're prepared to die.
But obviously I'd prefer a scenario where nobody shows up to kill anyone. I'm responding to the insane exaggeration of the stupid meme. That's been my point this entire time. It reads to me like someone is arguing against a point that nobody is making in an attempt to dunk on people who don't exist, seemingly because they don't understand their opposition and can't be bothered to try.
We have to contextualize here that the entire conversation on this post is discussing how an anarchist society would function.
Most actual anarchists I've heard primarily believe in reducing reliance on capitalists and government by way of self and local community. That was my initial point.
Anarchist thought is not merely about living in capitalism with anarchist principles, but transitioning to anarchist society.
Anarchist society meaning one where people do not have to rely on capitalism or government. Why is gradually transitioning away from a ruling class of spoiled pedophiles a bad thing?
It doesn't just mean not needing to rely on them, it means the absence of them. Anarchist praxis is near exclusively revolutionary as a consequence.
