I think what makes it extra difficult are the high stakes. A blockbuster film with a blockbuster budget has to make blockbuster money.

I know it's impossible to fully scale down, and it seems like Disney is reducing what they're making for Disney+, but I do hope they find a way to make some smaller projects going forward.

Shows like Loki and WandaVision are some of the best to come out of the "Multiverse saga". While they still had huge budgets follow ups like Agatha All Along were much more budget conscious and still amazing.

The upcoming DC film "Clayface" is a good example of this. Small budget, hopefully small stakes, weird movie.

The first season of Loki had a 150m budget, and Wandavision had 250m. I don't think they're good examples of scaling down, given endgame was only 400m.

Oh absolutely! That was my point, MCU TV started with big budgets, but follow ups were scaled down. Agatha All Along had a 40m budget, that's the direction we should be heading in. And it's not just about money, lower budget isn't better, but lower budget just hopefully means we get bigger risk in the shows.

Makes it seem like they are going to try to make Tony Stark into Dr. Doom for some reason. Coupling the "evolve and surprise" statement with the RDJ announcement...while I've been guessing this was the idea for awhile, I'm getting more convinced now. I don't know the comics well enough to know if there is precedent for that scenario, but not sure that matters to them.
