How so? I thought he has done an amazing job. Marvel has played up the super soldier program like the comics and has Sam dealing with having to become Captain America in a world where racism would make his job harder, like they did when he took over in the comics. In the comics, Cap always stands up for what the ideal American should be and each wielder of the shield has dealt with different “faces” of America whether it was Steve, Bucky, Sam, John, Isaiah, etc.

I’m curious what you are expecting/want from the character.

I think "wildly underutilized" would be a better critique.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series was mostly pretty good. The ending was a bit weak, and the story (having changed as a result of COVID) had some hand wavy moments, but I think mostly worked and was a good setup for Sam feeling ready to take on the Captain America role.

But the movie had a lot of issues, once again many production related.

I do hope after Doomsday/Secret Wars he gets a chance to shine as Captain America.

I thought the movie was fun. I didn’t like that they blew the whole Ross/Hulk reveal in promotional stuff, but otherwise it was an interesting movie.

I agree with you about Doomsday/Secret Wars. I hope he lives up the the mantle and helps lead a team in a satisfying way. He definitely needs more screen time to do things.

The film has its moments, but I think it has more issues than moments.

For the Red Hulk reveal it's fine to spoil it with the trailer, but then that moment can't be your third act. Look at Hulk appearing in Ragnarok. That was spoiled by the trailer, but then Hulk had a bunch of storyline elsewhere in the film. Cap vs Red Hulk should have been the halfway point of the film. Then we can get into the fallout, and The Leader and whatever Giancarlo and the Serpent Society were supposed to do.

For Doomsday I suspect based on the trailer we'll get some Avengers vs Avengerz stuff (not fight fight, just banter), but I hope Sam can clean it up before Steve shows up. I'd hate for Steve to have to fix Sam's mess.

It's the actor.

He just doesn't have that presence on screen.

I didn't like him in the second season of Altered Carbon either.

It's crazy how scared they are to change anything. People like captain america, so we just make a new one. And we REALLY push the envelope by making him black I haven't aeen much of the newer slop, but it seems like mediocre is putting it nicely.

At this point i'm kinda ahocked they didn't just make baby avengers or everyone just passed on the mantle. Here my hammer, here my bow, here my sexy dress. AVENGERS 2.0
