judging by the average car size in the USA vs rest of the world, the real significant amount aren't doing shit and actually like the lack of regulations

Figure it like this. Once amerikka is done falling, the only cars available will be a dwindling selection of used Toyotas, and a few million Waymo cars. The future for America is always renting transportation and never owning. Also, not having fresh fruits and veg. Lots of beef though.
