And I'll continue to dynamically price their burgers at $0, through my continuation of not patronizing them

You dynamically price them at $0.

I dynamically price them with 0 interest.

We are the same.

It's called surveillance pricing. It should be illegal. If you're in California, this may interest you.

AB-2564 is a smart, well-written bill that bans surveillance pricing.

Between too fucking expensive and way too fucking expensive?

[-] r0ertel@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

For those of you posting that it won't affect you for various reasons, it will eventually if we allow this behaviour to continue. Right now, it's McDonald's. Next, it'll be grocery stores, gas stations, and everything else. Delta airlines said that they were doing this, too. I heard that they later backed down after consumer backlash. I heard that Whole Foods is considering something similar (surge pricing).

Write to McDonald's, preferably in a public forum. Boycotts are great, drawing the attention of others is better. Write to your local representatives, especially if they're up for reelection this fall.

I don't think I've been to one in over 15 years now. Not going to change that anytime soon.

I went fairly recently and it tasted like crap. You’re not missing out. I cook better.

Address? No sour cream pls

[-] aceshigh@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Tbf the threshold is quite low.

[-] daychilde@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

This really doesn't bother me much because they've used whatever tools they could for forever to basically try and price things to try and maximise profit for decades. The tools get maybe better and easier, but this is nothing new in my book.

It feels so great to be boycotting McDonald's.

[-] criss_cross@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Wasn’t Wendy’s trying to do the same thing with Surge pricing?

[-] lntl@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 days ago

McDonalds is kinda like cigarettes: expensive and bad for you. I can't afford a habit like that

[-] aceshigh@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

McDonald’s doesn’t taste good, but menthols? Mhmm mhmm I’m loving it… or I assume I’d still love them. I haven’t smoked in years.

Congrats! I quit again in July : )

[-] aceshigh@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Congrats on your 2+ months! I know it’s very tough for people, you can do it!

I quit accidentally, it was covid and I was too lazy to get dressed and go outside to smoke. I doubt I’ll start again because they’re so pricy here. Besides, weed is cheaper and makes me feel all funny. I’ll take wacky tobacky any day.

[-] CosmoNova@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I McDo enjoy me some good burgers. Particularly when I they‘re McNot from McDonald‘s.

[-] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I don’t eat there. The food is shit now.

[-] fonix232@fedia.io 4 points 2 days ago

I'm just using my brain to avoid their business. I used to go there every once in a while, but it's just not woth it at all. Its not great food, its too expensive, and worst of all, its slow. 90% chance they wouldn't have the food ready when I pulled up and I had to wait 5 minutes in a spot for my food. They have clearly lost the plot as to what made them popular.

[-] Photonic@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Good, I’ll continue to dynamically give them my business. And by dynamic I mean anywhere between not touching with a ten-foot pole and avoiding like the plague.

[-] enkonju@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Why even bother with them anymore? I recently tried to use their site to check how bad prices had gotten at my local McDonald's, but it turns out they won't even let you check prices without the app. Last time we went in 2021 it was $30 for two, so I assume it's even more expensive with the way inflation is going. No thanks.

[-] AntonioAndolini@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

They have been doing this for a long time. I had to reverse out the drive through in Sedona Arizona

[-] inari@piefed.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Nice try, but I'm already vegan, McDonalds

No one asked for any of the comments we post on this fediverse, but we do it anyway

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca -2 points 3 days ago

Cool, since you didn’t ask-

Animals are fucking delicious!

[-] inari@piefed.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Well, surely that's enough to justify hurting them

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca -1 points 3 days ago

It’s enough for me!

[-] adarza@lemmy.ca -5 points 3 days ago

i still go there maybe once a month, but i always have a buy 1-get 1 coupon. that at least gets the price down close to ~ 2019's.
