I really don't understand the controversy surrounding this film. I just saw the movie and thought it was extremely well done and Cruise put in one of the better performances I have seen him give in awhile. It was funny, topical, and was told in an interesting way.
I just won't watch any Tom Cruise movies, is my reason.
All I know of it was a trailer I saw before another movie. I sat there the whole time going What is this madness? before being blindsided by the Cruise credit. Afterward, I realized that was why the dancing guy reminded me of Tropic Thunder.
Is it as insane as the trailer made it out to be?
I thought it was actually more straightforward than the trailer lets on. The trailer is nonsense for sure - I thought he was going to play some sort of weird DC superhero.
Really enjoyed Digger, I understand the criticism, and why it won’t do well. Tons of monologues, very meta, and not super easy to parse. Definitely not for everyone, but each scene is like a work of art. Feel like it will be a movie people will look back at in 10 years and reasses. Movie was super original and hope they keep trying new things.
I’ve read some articles saying it was the worst movie ever. Then saw the trailer and thought “this is madness, I like it!” So I guess I might watch it at some time.. 🤷 But I probably won’t spend money on a ticket.
