That fingernail chewing 😬

[-] Custard@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

What do you think the pills are for

[-] FreshLight@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

To make it easier to chew them?

[-] almost1337@lemmy.zip 21 points 3 days ago

Extended release sobstopper

[-] Stolas@lemmy.ca 23 points 4 days ago

This is why I make sure to take each pill one at a time instead of using a pill organizer, sadly spending the first five minutes of every day popping the bottles open one at a time.

[-] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

There is a very real chance I’d OD if I didn’t use my pill organizer, haha. For whatever reason my brain absolutely can’t retain a timestamp on when I last took my meds.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 10 points 4 days ago

Me too. ADHD for me, it could have happened months ago or 5 mins ago and I'll be lucky if I even remember at all.

[-] Gormadt@slrpnk.net 5 points 4 days ago

I've got a timer on my pills so that I can see the last time I took them for this exact reason.

Too many times of accidentally taking them twice or skipping them entirely so now I've got a timer.

[-] harrison_fnord@reddthat.com 2 points 3 days ago

There is a pill you can take for that.

[-] kungen@feddit.nu 7 points 3 days ago

Don't worry, that pill bottle problem will be solved if Canada joins the EU. You'll get wonderful blister packs instead.

I hate blister packs so damn much

[-] kungen@feddit.nu 1 points 2 days ago

Why though? Do you enjoy accidentally spilling all of your pills? It's really easy to pop them out and put into a bottle if you'd want it like that. It feels good to not risk the stressed overworked pharmacy tech putting something wrong into my bottle.

Blisters make my hands hurt, you try popping a few dozen every week for your pill planner.

[-] kungen@feddit.nu 1 points 23 hours ago

Hmm, what kinds of blisters you have where it requires much force...? Screwing a bottle, especially the child-safe ones the US has, requires a lot more force?

It's usually foil holding in the tablets, a tip I usually use is slightly slicing it with my fingernail and then the tablet just falls out. The only blisters that I've seen that's somewhat difficult would be Mirtazapine orally dissolving tablets, where there's a paper layer on the foil.

I would lose track of something without my organizers. Fortunately I recently had to replace my old ones. The new ones, I can remove each day from them. It's a pill organizer organizer, if you will.

[-] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

I hope some of them are to help regrow fingernails, because that thumb is nasty!

[-] Lokoschade@feddit.org 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I think this person could have Brachydactyly type D which is a genetic trait. (though they do also seem to bite their nails, but due to their condition it's not as bad as it might seem)

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Not enough talk about his thumb here, IMO.

I used to bite mine when I was a kid. In my early teens I decided it was enough, and so everytime I had the urge to bite, I just went and got some clippers and cut them instead. It fixed me forever. No urge to bite. My bite was related to the annoying feeling of having long nails. But I also told myself I'm not allowed to clip them past the white part into the pink. So that also helped regrow them perfectly.

Highly recommend to try this method. Very simple and won't cost you anything but some clippers.

[-] OriginalTangle@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

I bite off the white and then try to clip the rest so they look even. They get very short but at least i don't bite into the living part of the nail and don't damage it and I still get to satisfy my tick. Which is what life is all about.

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The thing is also that:

Biting your nails can lead to significant damage to your teeth, including chipping, cracking, and shifting out of alignment. Additionally, it increases the risk of gum disease due to the transfer of bacteria from your nails to your mouth.

It's not worth it. Life is not about gum disease and damaged teeth.

It's also still not good to rip your nails as what happens with biting. It causes damage to your nails even if you don't bite all the way down "to the meat".

And if you just search the internet for nail biting, there's SOOO many complications that can occur with nail biting, and so many bacteria you can ingest that can get you very sick.

Basically,

it's fucking nasty as fuck.

[-] bstix@feddit.dk 2 points 2 days ago

It can be difficult to just stop a stupid habit like that.

My solution was to go on a skiing holiday. Wearing gloves for a week and being away from my ordinary routine definitely helped.

[-] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

😄 What an awesome solution, sounds like you had a great time and maybe also forgot about it a little bit, too, as another factor. Very good!

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

You know how I know he bites his nails?

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I could taste his spit when I was biting them, that's how I did it. You?

[-] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I wonder if it tastes like snozzberries when he bites his fingernails

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 7 points 4 days ago

Okay let’s see if anyone can identify all these. I think that large pink one is an atripla maybe?

[-] YoSoySnekBoi@kbin.earth 6 points 4 days ago

The big white one they're holding them by looks like Magnesium Oxide and the gelcap is too small for fish oil...Vitamin D maybe?

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

The white one on the bottom they are holding looks like bactrim

[-] mika_mika@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

wtf is an everlasting gobstopper?

[-] Lenny@lemmy.zip 34 points 4 days ago
[-] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 6 points 4 days ago

Me giving my meds and vitamins back to my dog that I stole them from because I can’t afford healthcare or insurance anymore, but I feel guilty taking them from my best friend even if he’s only gonna live 14 years at most

[-] Simulation6@sopuli.xyz 5 points 4 days ago

Has to be a gellcap in there to glue them together like that, maybe fish oil.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I get a single random vitamin/mineral in a gummy every four or five years. That's about how long it takes me to forget that the gummies just do this.

[-] crank0271@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

Alternatively, a VERY happy everlasting gobstopper. (I don't know what kind of pills those are.)

[-] expatriado@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

that amber pill isn't gluten free

[-] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Whoa, shades of pills swallowed easily.

Cursed gummy cluster.
