You can try braiding it after showering and letting it dry. Then use some hairspray to help it last linger if you can use it.
I tried starting from simple, and made one big braid, and waited until it dried, without leaving overnight. Of course my first result was far from perfect, but even with this poorly made try, i did get a visible change in waviness. So i now want to experiment more, make tighter braids, leave them overnight.
Thank you very much for recommending me this :3
I'm so glad that I could help! :) my wife would braid my hair before I decided to come out and the wave and bounce gave me so much euphoria.
This is a great method. I was friends with some horse girls as a teen and I let them braid my hair to practice for the horses. I was so curly back then 💖
considering the restrictions this might work, I find my hair always curls up when I don't brush it right after a shower so braiding it and waiting would do the trick
This method looks very simple, and is easy to improve effect by using curling lotion and keeping braids overnight. I will obviously try it, but i dont know whether it is an effective method to make hair curly, to later use it with curly girl method.

Silicone free conditioner! Research the Curly Girl Method. Heres a link that covers the basics - https://www.curlyworld.com/cgmethod
Really this just enhances your natural curls so if you don't have any at all i'm not sure how effective it would be.
In any case, it's a gentler way to wash your hair so could be worth trying just to see if anything happens!
This method seems interesting to keep hair curly and beautiful. My problem however, is that to use this method, i must get my hair curly in the first place.
Curly girl method specifically requires to not use any dangerous chemicals or dry hair with heat, so i cant do either the heat curling or chemical curling, and i dont know whether this method is useful for keeping hair curly and beautiful if i use temporary curling methods like braiding.
This may or may not be you, but a lot of people don't realize they're on the wavy/curly spectrum because they're taught to treat it like straight hair and most stylists will give everyone a straight hair routine at the salon. And for those people, the curly girl method will work for them even if they've been styling it straight the entire time.
The CG method could definitely worth trying at least once or twice to see how your hair responds to it. It doesn't require any chemicals or heat as the process is essentially just leaving some amount of conditioner in your hair and letting it dry like that.
Yes, i did try brushing the hair in the shower, instead of after, and it really slightly wavy. It is not strong waves, and definetely not curls, but at least now i know that my hair is actually wavy, and not just straight, as i earlier assumed it to be, because i straighened it by brushing after showering, not while showering and brushing while conditioner is applied, until today.
Yeah everyone will be different. Braiding is a good idea. You just gotta find what works for you!
Using rollers will produce the nicest curls. The curly girl method will not do anything for you if your hair is not naturally curly or wavy.
My hair is naturally curly... I've tried making it straight sometimes with heat straighteners but it's so much effort so I don't really bother
My hair is very straight
couldn't be me
also a more serious answer: what i found works well is to let it air-dry, i.e. after showering, don't use a fan to dry it, just use a towel, rub it once, then let it stay wet until it dries through the room's air. takes longer, and don't go into the freezing cold air outside with that! but it does work.
Idk if it depends on my hair type but I've found with mine, that if I leave my hair to airdry fully, it becomes very stringy (as in, hair strands clump together and the hair becomes flatter with way less volume)
If anyone has the same issue, a middle ground approach works well for me. Pat down the hair with a towel to remove any excess dripping water, leave to air-dry for about 10 mins, then blowdry (I just use the cool temperature) for a min or so. At least for me it retains the volume in my hair, makes it a bit more fluffier and keeps some of the natural waviness. If I need to brush it, I'll just lightly use a detangle brush
Another way is to put your hair in a ponytail while it dries. I seem to retain a lot of my waviness one I let it down afterwards, at the risk of a little less volume
Extra/edit note: My hair does have some natural waviness that is very noticeable when wet. So I'm not saying this will work for everyone ^ But if your hair has any natural waves in it, it might do. (Way of knowing is to see how your hair looks when wet, if it straight, you've got straight hair. If it is wavy or curly, that's your natural waviness). Over-brushing or blow-drying it too much or too soon, with high heat can accidently get rid of that waviness for me
I already dry it naturally. I rub it with towel just enough to not be soaking wet, and then just let it dry over time. The main thing that i need to do, is to actually curl it, as i didnt curl it earlier, it just stays straight after drying
best I could think of are old school curlers. From looking it up they do work best with heat, but don’t require it. Maybe wetting your hair with saltwater would help too. Saltwater makes my hair much more curly. I remember reading it apparently strengthens the asymmetrical bonds that makes hair curly.
As far as i understand, the main part of keeping the hair curly, is to keep moisture in it. Salt will just dry the hair out, so i dont see this as an useful method to make hair curly. On the other hand, it looks relatively simple, so i can at least try it and see if it works for me.
I don’t know the science, but I do know that seawater makes my hair a little stiff and super curly. I have naturally curly hair, but they’re big loose curls that hang. With seawater though, it becomes a big fluffy afro.
