A more nuanced version of this post https://thenorthstar.media/article/2026/09/30/manitoba-ndp-crushes-health-care-workers-strike/.

They are forcing the strikers back (because peoples health depends on it), and looking at making these labs public again.

As Canadians, we need to kick this right wing conservative and neoliberalism ideology out of our country.

They do nothing but privatize everything they can for pennies on dollars to the detriment of citizens.

Vote out conservatism. It’s class warfare, against us.

So, we got rid of all the independent, competing labs and privatized it all to Dynacare? It seems we talk out of both sides of our mouths with regard to citizen ownership versus corporate ownership. Every single time it's eventually proven that citizen ownership is better for the citizens. Corps can no longer streamline processes, ramp up, hit the ground running, and move fast. It's a myth. They only exist to provide money to shareholders while the lab work is secondary. The only reason things like this would be approved is that deals were made and money changed hands at a private level that is above the citizenry.

Totally agree. We got rid of public labs as i understand it, so that this private (US!) company could take over.

Yeah, Dynacare won the contracts when there was a conservative government in Manitoba between 2016 - 2023. Dynacare had a monopoly on lab results as of 2017.

While I'm 2025 Manitoba increased Dynacare's funding and subsidies with the intention that their employees would get paid better, dynacare pocketed the money (shocker).

It'll now be twice as expensive to move it back to publicly managed, but I'm hoping that Wab puts in the groundwork for that.
