At least it's Russia to start. For once, a little bit of karma that may help Ukraine.

Is this a concern with modern medicine?

[-] Unleaded8163@fedia.io 13 points 3 days ago

Just in case you've been sleeping too well lately: https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a74033610/russia-plague-lab-worker-dies

In the 20th century, biological warfare researchers learned how to make the plague much more deadly through genetic engineering.

Together, with social engineering even more insidious and addicting, they'll have a drastically diminished and ground down populace incapable of mounting an effective rebellion β€”just in time for them to clinch the automation of their wealth without us. It's guns be a blast.☝🏼

I once got down voted to hell because I was accused of Russophobia. I am not. These plagues, no matter where they originate, are not natural, they are bioengineered on purpose to be resilient against modern medicine AND the use of antibiotics might even boost their lethality.

Bioweapons need to be made the most illegal of all weapons. More than nukes, too.

The report said 189 people were being monitored following the illness of an employee at an anti-plague research institute in Irkutsk. Alexei Tsydenov, head of the nearby Republic of Buryatia, said the woman had died from an unspecified form of plague.

anti-plague research institute

Looks inside: epicenter of the next pandemic πŸ‘

These epidemiologists aren't doing their jobs right.

Unspecified form of pneumonia*

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

Yes, but Russia hasn't admitted that yet.

[-] ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com 7 points 3 days ago

If it's just a plague, no. If it was weaponized, possibly. But that's unlikely.

[-] atrizzy@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

We could, and would, quickly run out of antibiotics in the case of exponential spread.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

will

No one's stepping up to staunch this, and I've played way too much Pandemic to not see the crayon on the WH wall.

A woman died and her colleagues are being quarantined from their family in a building. Usually it's not a problem, but apparently in russia, it is.

A literal plague. There's several variants, this sounds more like pneumonic plague, which, unless it's a bioweapon, is much easier to treat from what I understand.

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

Pneumonic plague is much more dangerous than bubonic plague.

[-] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Second only to pneumatic plagues, ofc.

Though, mnemonic plagues're up there, too.

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

I'm beginning to think that you're the plague.

I wasn't trying to be a dick. It was a joke because of your dad joke/play on words.

No worries, I was aiming for silliness, too. πŸ˜… All good, though! Carry on! πŸ––πŸΌ

[-] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

No worries. I don't downvote in retaliation anyways. Just didn't want anyone to think Shartgargle stands for antagonization.

Cogito plague shudders

[-] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 8 points 3 days ago

Maybe McDonald Trump can sacrifice a few more US cities to stop the plague? LA can go to Iran, Chicago goes to the plague, and the world is saved ^/s^

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

if we get rid of chicago we'll never have to hear about deep dish pizza again

I'm fine with him saying stupid and horrible shit. All he's doing at this point is helping to disillusion the cult.

The Republicans are actively trying to keep him away from Republican rallies for midterm elections that look like they might lose. When he does show up, their polls take a hit.
