Any idea why Lidarr can't find https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/165b34c9-6132-4632-b1f4-981f51f87235 ? It finds the other four albums but not this one.

It's the lack of release status. Click the release, then edit, and choose the correct status. It the should show up in Lidarr in a few days.

This is the correct answer, all other comments are just noise lol

It's not a 500, but the rest of the issue seems to indicate some things just aren't being found. I wonder if there's a way to go straight to MusicBrainz as a backup.

So thats the caching portion not being 100% - using the ID for the search, try it twice, that has worked where the first fails but the second query shows up, specifically for the id you want

I've done it by ID at least 10 times. :/ I almost always use ID now, since it works so well for my purposes.

Unfortunate, but also happens sometimes

Sorry I don't have a better answer!

No worries; thank you for trying to help!

I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but it's related; Lidarr is pretty much dead. The problem became managing metadata sources and assignment to media.

I'm actually generally finding it working better for me since they let you search for releases/groups and not just artists. Combined with MusicBrainz Picard for the metadata and finding the release ID, it's pretty good.

I'm using Lidarr and it's sometimes a bit of a hassle but it works. What would you recommend instead?

[-] HumbleBragger@piefed.social 4 points 6 days ago

I use tubifarry, a lidarr plugin to use slskd (soulseek) to find and download albums. For me is way better than searching for torrents

[-] non_burglar@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I don't think there is anything, really. I use a soulseek client to get flac files and convert them to opus manually.

Radarr and Sonarr work because the naming conventions for videos are more or less established.

With music, everyone has a different philosophy for tagging, renaming files, transcoding, how to handle best-of albums, compilations, etc. So what works for you probably doesn't work for me and vice versa.

Lidarr gets very few updates, I don't think anyone is working on it anymore. I remember the problem was keeping up with metadata handling.

I don't know where you're getting this from, the latest docker image was released 3 days ago

https://github.com/linuxserver/docker-lidarr/releases/tag/3.1.0.4875-ls43

[-] non_burglar@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Uhh.... That's a repackage of Lidarr in docker, and based on the commits only to comments and to the packager's Discord server, I would say they probably aren't adding any actual functional changes.

This is the actual Lidarr repo: https://github.com/Lidarr/Lidarr

Have you tried using the ID (last part of the URL) directly by putting "lidarr:" in the search bar?

Sometimes that helps. Some releases also have some uncommon metadata, causing Lidarr to ignore them, not sure if that's the case here.

EDIT: I actually think it is the case. If you check your URL page, you notice above the release, where the others say "Official". Lidarr tends to ignore these. This might actually need an edit on Musicbrainz for Lidarr to find it

Thank you! I just learned a lot. I've made the edit; hopefully won't take too long to make it to the cache.
