Hi everyone! I'm the new(ish) admin of lemy.lol, I should have made an introductory post months ago when I took over, but ya know it's one of those things you say you'll do "tomorrow" and then "tomorrow" turns into 6 months lol

Speaking of things taking 6 months, I'm sure many of you have noticed the growing problem of timeouts and errors.

That's now FIXED. It was bot/scraper traffic bogging shit down, a new rule and some config changes in cloudflare and things appear to now be singing along.

Lemy.lol lemmy backend has also been upgraded to the current 19.20 up from the relatively ancient 19.13

Now for the future

1. lemy.lol is currently hosted on a VPS on Hetzner in Germany as it was while ISO was at the helm. I've been sketching out migrating lemy over to my own infrastructure where it'll have much more resources to play with and a fat 10gig pipe.

   However, that means lemy would be hosted in America. Sooo now's your chance to comment if you'd rather not or if you don't care. I do have an alt plan where I can just split the traffic via load balancing, EU origin users would continue to be served out of Hetzner/Germany (accepting there may or may not be performance issue later on) if there's enough interest

2. I'm also planning to deploy Anubis at some point to tackle any lingering bot issues

3. Upload limits are now up to 150MB, have fun, maybe someone could start a HighQualityGifs comm wink wink
