I trust the Philip Morris public health advisor more than I trust the Palantir CTO.

Hahahah, oh fuck I smoked a cig and now I'm sure to get cancer!

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 14 hours ago

the cure to cancer is mortality.

This kind of story is generally built from quotes from like two guys that may or may not even be real or serious. Fox News does it constantly in their "what are the liberals mad about today" sections. I'm LOLing at the dingus this is based on, but I've got some doubts it's happening en masse.

He's clearly just lying. Just like every other LLM peddler trying to keep the bubble from popping

Can they shoot themselves to prove that AI will cure gunshot wounds?

I'd like to see AI cure COPD.

Edit: Maybe a little bleach?

funny if true as the only answer an llm could give is "Don't smoke" or one of many folk remedies. I'm starting to think the people working on them have no clue how they actually work. are the majority working there just prompt engineers without real technical knowledge?

Or the CEO is lying to hype his product.

[-] Miller@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Or to kill them sooner.

Reputable source you got there. Ghost archive isn't known to me and feels like a fake site made up to discredit AI Bros.

I am not clicking that.

[-] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 2 points 17 hours ago

AI Bros don't need anyone going out of their way to discredit them. You just have to let them speak

[-] riot@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

Ghost archive is just a mirror to circumvent the paywall on the article, which is from Business Insider. Here's the original link: https://www.businessinsider.com/ai-researchers-smoking-ai-cure-cancer-palantir-cto-2026-10

You're welcome. I can definitely recommend using one's search engine of choice to look stuff up with ๐Ÿ‘ Or even going straight to Wikipedia for answers.

[-] MountingSuspicion@reddthat.com 3 points 1 day ago

The quote has been making the rounds this week, even if you don't like this particular source. I think the guy is lying, but it's still been widely reported.

It's been around a long time, but I understand the hesitation when you're not familiar yourself.

[-] ernest314@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

lobsters uses it so I assume it's not actively dangerous

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

They are smoking because they know that 2036 looks way worse than 2026.

[-] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Or the work they are doing is so soul sucking they are turning to worldy vices?
