Epic Games Store has a Linux client

I presume this is the fully vibe coded one that they’ve been bragging about?

So given that "Linux goes all in on AI" is a steaming pile of bullshit, can someone tell me which YouTuber I can avoid moving forward? Probably should go ahead and block whatever this website is. But I'm not clicking that clickbait/ragebait link.

Linux is definitely going to that direction but is not yet there. I have no idea why Linus is supporting this god awful tool so much. I guess promoting a programmer as an indisputable true opinion source was wrong. He became a bootlicker for big tech at the end. Such a shame.

Linus didn't do anything like what you said. Why do you people not care to know what the truth is?

And still no response here: https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/e12330b9-c29e-45ca-9375-9e3d13426d85@horse64.org/T/

I wonder when somebody's going to fork the Linux Kernel based on a pre slop version. Seems almost inevitable to eventually happen at this point.

it will be the most unmaintained shit ever

TempleOS beckons you

I think forking would probably be the easiest step. After that, you'd need contributors and I don't know if many devs would change from the present kernel to the non-AI one.

[-] jbloggs777@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 days ago

Honestly, it would be asking for trouble (aka downright stupid) to engage, so the lack of responses should be reassuring that the mental faculties of Linux developers are still intact.

[-] SocialistVibes01@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Not so reassuring from a moral standpoint. Greg probably knows all of this and it was evil from his part encouraging the poor guy to post.

[-] jbloggs777@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 days ago

Possibly, or possibly he just didn't want to engage himself and tried to be helpful nonetheless.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -5 points 4 days ago

I wonder when people will slop lying about ai use in the kernel. Gonna guess they won't stop.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
