Lol, the snowflake right wingers outing themselves in the comments is hilarious. Probably post this kind if stuff daily on 4chan, attacking minorities but can't take the heat they threw.

I find this funny.

Just because the German is shredded and aryan doesn’t mean he’s far-right

The word aryan is used in a way to increase the punchline of the joke and is a symbol for a vibecode Bro.

[-] PotatoesFall@discuss.tchncs.de 25 points 3 days ago

The implication is not that the German is far-right, but the "who cares how it's coded" guy

[-] sit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

You are right. It’s still a meme which uses the image of a buff guy who wouldnt code without ai.

I guess most lemmings who code are not a buff guy but the trans-puppy.

Else I don’t understand another angle why some people are offended or otherwise downvote this

Vibecoders whose feelings are hurt?

I wonder if its a symptom of the fact that vibecoding is just not cool.

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I don't find this very funny. This is barely about programming, and it isn't very humorous to position autistic, trans, etc. people as the opposite to shredded "Aryan" Germans.

You shouldn't bring up racism and bigotry in goddamn programming humour, even if it is in jest

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 14 points 3 days ago

Nobody finds this to be very funny. Next time, maybe don't bring up eugenics in programmer humour?

[-] tutter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

lol theres no eugenics in the meme. Mentioning a 'shredded aryan' is NOT eugenics and not even an affirmation of that view. Its quite clearly framed as the out of touch expectation of the nazi, therefore, actually implying that the notion of a shredded aryan coder is: unlikely. So, the opposite of what you are acusing it of.

tldr: youre misintepreting the meme.

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I did not say it was an affirmation. I did not accuse anybody of being a Nazi, it is obvious that the idea of "shredded Aryan Germans" is ridiculous from the image. I said they mentioned eugenics, not advocate it. My point is that, in my opinion, it isn't a good joke and pretty off-topic in a programming humour community bar the mention of vibe coders.

I also don't like how people who are autistic, trans, etc. are positioned as the "opposite" to shredded "Aryan" Germans, it doesn't sit right as somebody who is autistic.

[-] tutter@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 18 hours ago

fair, just as long as you also understand that that positioning is in service of ridiculing that positioning itself. Classic satirical technique.

Also fair thinking its off topic. I dont necessarily agree, but whatevs

[-] RumRunningDevil@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 days ago

What? Where is eugenics mentioned in the meme?

I'm genuinely curious, I see no reference to selective breeding in here.

Straight up I'm not even being deliberately dense, where's the eugenics?

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The association of "Aryan" Germans with being shredded and people who are trans, autistic, etc. being positioned as the opposite. Eugenics is the idea that some people are genetically "superior" to others, making "Aryan" babies was a big part of it, but that's the main idea being referenced.

As somebody who is autistic myself, it doesn't feel right as a "joke". Yes, it paints people who believe in that sort of thing like idiots, because they are, but this is programmer humour, jokes should be about programming things! Off-topic and generally unfunny in my opinion.

[-] RumRunningDevil@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago

I would say vibe-coding is on topic for programming humor.

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 0 points 1 day ago

Most of the other bits about "shredded Aryan Germans" and all that isn't though, and is the main topic of the "joke".

[-] RumRunningDevil@lemmy.zip 2 points 22 hours ago

Sorry mate I think you may have missed the joke?

I wouldn't say ripped Aryan men is the "main topic" of the joke. The subject of the joke is very clearly the "who cares how it was coded" crowd (referencing those permissive of LLMs). Along with the implication that their "idea" of an ideal human is counter to the fact that many of the best technical professionals (whome they could only aspire to imitate) are often, distinctly, not aligned with that perceived ideal.

See, humor is all about the juxtaposition of novel subjects.

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 1 points 19 hours ago

It just doesn't fit with everything else in the community, in my opinion. I'm here for nerdy jokes, harmless laughs, and occasionally poking fun at vibe coders too.

But again, I don't like how autistic, trans, etc. people are positioned as the "opposite" of a "shredded Aryan German", particularly as an autistic person myself. Maybe don't have that in a programming humour community, you know? Just my thoughts though

Sorry? I'm not a Nazi, I am against all forms of discrimination and segregation. I do not support eugenics or the idea that some people are genetically "superior" to others.

[-] onlinepersona@programming.dev 2 points 17 hours ago

Then why are you offended by a meme targeting Nazis?

[-] scallisto@retrofed.com 1 points 7 hours ago

My point was that it doesn't really fit programmer humour, you know? I'm here for nerdy jokes and the occasional jab at Github downtime. Aside from the mention of vibe coders, it's not really on topic, and the joke isn't all that good in my opinion. I also don't like autistic, trans, etc. people are positioned as the "opposite" of "shredded Aryan Germans", even as a joke, "haha these people are so silly/crazy" doesn't feel right, as an autistic person myself. Just my thoughts though.

"The bigots hate minorities" might make sense as a meme in another community, but not programmer humour, where the current trend is about "4" being used as a private security key of a root CA. Jabs at vibe coders are totally fine too (see massive maintenance burden, ethical and legal problems of LLMs, etc., there are real reasons to not like those folk)

If you need to bring up eugenics and bigotry in a programmer meme, maybe it isn't very funny? (And the standards are very low, "4" is literally the current trend)

[-] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 2 points 1 day ago

Legitimately what are you talking about

[-] creamfresh@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago
[-] squaresinger@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

The image is from Invincible.

I think the point of the meme is that vibe coders are right-wing extremists or something like that.

[-] DahGangalang@infosec.pub 4 points 3 days ago

Def misread it on first pass. Thanks for straightening me out.

Yeah, OP did not do a good job with this one.

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world -4 points 3 days ago

A lot of them yes, though there are exceptions. You can find the odd "neurospicy" trans person using AI, though most are instead cis neurotypical people, most of which suddenly become less empathetic towards others the moment they start using genAI.

[-] creamfresh@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

You sound like you have empirical evidence.

[-] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Search up Brian Lunduke and his fans.

[-] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

That might prove right wing vibecoders exist, but not that they're a majority.

Also, because of demographics, most people in pretty much any group will be cisgender and neurotypical.
