Tacobell makes zero sense. Like a Gordita Crunch is $6 by itself, but I can get a box with one, including a taco, burrito, and a side, with a drink for $7.

The Gordita should be like $3-$4 at most. It used to be a double decker taco was like $1.99 and a normal taco was like $1.69, so why buy a taco.

Bundling is a form of price discrimination.

The anti-soda people deserve to pay more because they hate America

I officially can't tell when people are being serious or sarcastic!

I do NOT understand the boxes, but I appreciate them.

My local store even offers cheesy/sour cream potatoes as the side.

I can buy in bulk and make it a bit cheaper. But I'd have to make a week's worth, and I still can't quite nail their pita bread.

Back in my day a beefy five layer was 89 cents. I could walk into a tacobell with 2 dollars and walk out full with some change

[-] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 44 points 2 days ago

My family has sworn off Subway after 3 footlongs and chips cost us FORTY-FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS recently. I can make sandwiches at home, assholes.

[-] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 16 points 2 days ago

While they pay their employees absolutely nothing. Where the hell is the money going, because it's certainly not going into quality ingredients.

A few years ago when I had to get a gym mat for my daughter, it was cheaper to cobble it together myself from twenty $5 footlongs. Nowadays I'm better off buying an actual gym mat!

That's EVERY major chain. They all deserve to burn in the hottest pits of hell now.

Fuck capitalism is the ideology of the heartless swarm...

Those damn security cameras

[-] Psythik@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Now the average Taco Bell outing is $10-12 for me. And that's if I only order the value menu stuff. It's considerably cheaper than any other fast food option, but still too expensive.

“First they took the Baja sauce away and I did nothing”

[-] heartSagan5@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I was very unhappy when they discontinued Baja Gordita/Chalupa Supremes. They were the superior flavor.

[-] Psythik@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

I was very upset when they got rid of Verde sauce. But then they replaced it with a better one that has avocado in it so I stopped caring. Just wish they didn't charge 25¢ each for it...

The $20 dollar bill is the new $5 dollar bill.

50 is the new 20.

As in, today's 50-year-olds can afford the lifestyle 20-year-olds could afford a couple generations ago.

I've been keeping track of my own "Taco Bell Index" since tacos were 59¢.

“You can take my freedom, but you will never take MY GORDITAAAA!!!”

[-] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

By all means vote, but if you don't want Taco Bell charging that much then stop buying at that price. You are also voting with your wallet. I don't understand people complaining about how the prices of things are unacceptable while they demonstratively do accept them.

[-] krashmo@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

That idea only works if there are cheaper options available or going without is possible. If there's no place to get cheaper food you still have to eat. In my experience food is expensive everywhere.

[-] Zoot@reddthat.com 18 points 2 days ago

Fast food should be the first thing you drop, it's honestly sad that these companies aren't dying out as their prices match actual restaurant price, for way worse quality (sometimes)

[-] TheRagingGeek@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Yeah I mean once they match actual restaurant pricing I stopped going to them in favor of getting much better quality restaurant food instead when choosing to eat out. It’s the easy answer if your going to be spending that kind of cash either way.

[-] moakley@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

People who don't have a lot of money tend also not to have time to cook delicious meals for themselves.

[-] Zoot@reddthat.com 5 points 2 days ago

Fast food isn't cheap, I could go out and get 1 meal for 15 - 20$, or i could buy a bunch of lunch meats, rice, beans, and noodles and live off that for a week to 2.

Can be delicious, probably better than MickieD's, but damn do you u get a lot of it for your dollar.

in the 2000's kebab was 2,50€. Now it's 8,50€ and cheap disgusting meat.

[-] Obi@sopuli.xyz 13 points 2 days ago

8.50€ for the most basic version, without fries or drink. Fuck a kapsalon is like 15€ now in NL.

Better than nothing, but just barely. The general election is past the point at which you can choose the progressive candidate. If you're able to choose between a progressive and a fascist in the general, congrats, you're in an area where progressives have been able to get enough support.

If your choice is between an establishment centrist and a fascist, yeah, please vote for the non-fascist, but your support to get a progessive on the ballot might've been fucking nice to have, yeah?

VOTE BLUE as the only option against fascism, but if you're only voting in the general election, you are supporting fascism. Vote in the primary. Give your support outside of voting - canvassing, protesting, even standing up for progressivism online - whatever you can do.

[-] tamal3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

We need voting snacks. Australia has a voting hotdog as well as pastries with goofy puns (it's also a holiday, but that's not the point I'm making rn).

If we want people to vote then we need to spike their blood sugar Every Time and make a goddamned tradition out of the thing. Give me a voting hot dog, a voting knish, a voting donut. I'd look forward to it every two years.

I’m blown away at how fast food companies are still operating with these prices. At that price point I can get an awesome meal with better quality.
