I don't know who in the DCCC needs to hear this, but learning a Republican supports a Democratic candidate makes me support them less, not more.

You'd think Harris trotting out Liz Cheney and losing would get the message across, but magically donor money makes that lesson go poof.

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

Careful with this mindset, otherwise it can be used against you like reverse psychology.

Harris embraced Liz Cheney, so it went both ways there, but "y supports x" doesn't always mean "x supports y".

Vote progressive. Fuck everyone else, they're all incompetent or self-serving.

In December 2024 the NCAA counted just under 510,000 collegiate level athletes. Less than 10 of them were transgender that year.

One study found that of the trans women who competed in sports about 41% of them did improve their competition level.

However, the sample size to determine this statistic was 52 transgender women over a period of 8 years.

This problem is so niche that it’s difficult to even study.

They have us all worked up over nothing, in the interim all trans people see is people debating our rights and fixating on all the ways we might be different.

Trans people are famously under-represented in sports as a percentage of our overall population… mostly because we are terrified of the bad optics and the circus it brings.

It is immoral to keep company with a conservative, much less vote for one. Neoliberals ARE conservatives. Always have been. This is why I am careful about who I vote for.

Voting "blue no matter who" is how you end up with conservatives in control of both parties. I find it immoral and reprehensible to vote for a conservative.

So, I will only vote for progressives anymore. If they aren't an option, then my vote goes in the fucking trash can. I'd rather slaughter conservatives in the streets than vote for one.

You would think after Sinema, Manchin, Fetterman, fucking etc they'd learn, but no.

Sure, maybe this person will win and help flip the ~~Senate~~ house but how long until they start climbing up the next Mich McConnell's ass looking for bribes?

[-] Blibly@lemmy.world 46 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

And when this doesn't win them any votes they'll turn around and blame trans people anyway because fuck it why not? Have they called Liz Cheney for a fucking photo op yet?

I would love to subject these disgusting pigs to just 10% of the dehumanizing bullshit they put trans people through.

Goddamn how are the Democrats so bad at politics? FFS, even if the national party is cool with looking the other way on anti-trans politicians, at least don't fund it. And especially don't fund it openly under the banner of the whole party. Is it too much to ask for them to have a little shame? In a world of dark money they just decide to plaster the DCCC on it.

Can't say I ever trusted the DCCC to be a good shepherd of money, but I did kind of assume they'd use it poorly in ways that made the party look like it stood for nothing rather than proactively standing for transphobia.

[-] jimmy90@lemmy.world -2 points 3 hours ago

if sport is so vital in the wider trans rights world and overrides all the other issues that need to be addressed in the world such that you will dismiss the dems then i guess you're ok with letting the nazis back in

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 hours ago

If sitting at the front of the bus is so important to black people...

[-] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

Good lord how much more overt does this have to get before people stop saying the Dems "are making simple mistakes" or "don't know what we want"?!

Oh wait, I know how deep the denial goes, I've been watching magats swim in it for years.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 day ago

What’s more alarming for transgender people, however, is that the DCCC is behind the ad. Whereas a candidate’s political ad is the candidate’s choice, an ad paid for by the DCCC is the Democratic Party’s choice. That makes this ad the first known instance of the party itself choosing anti-transgender messaging to win an election, a notable development for those watching for signs that explicitly anti-transgender positions, once rare in the Democratic Party, might be gaining steam across the party as a whole.

This escalation comes as more and more evidence emerges that anti-transgender ads are ineffective, suggesting that embracing anti-transgender messaging is a policy choice rather than a political calculation designed to win an election.
