Flávio’s departure defies an order by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes prohibiting the defeated candidate from leaving the country and instructing him to surrender his passports. The ruling is connected to an investigation into Flávio’s alleged participation in a money-laundering scheme. (He’s also being investigated as part of a probe into the financing of a biopic of his father.) By Tuesday morning, the younger Bolsonaro had missed the deadline to hand over his travel documents, and the Brazilian federal police were looking into whether he had left the country via Argentina.

He's not yet a US immigrant, but it appears he violated laws by leaving Brazil.

Why do all these failed wanna be dictators end up fleeing to the US and end up being greeted in Florida? Its almost like there is a pipeline of shitty people coming and going from the state…

[-] Swemg@lemmy.world 82 points 1 day ago

Nothing says "I'm legitimate" more than fleeing your country after a botched frauded election

[-] Aeder@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago

He's fleeing because winning the election was the only way to extend his immunity to prosecution. He has a bunch of pending cases regarding corruption, tax evasion, a financing scandal, and money laundering.

[-] Rothe@piefed.social 8 points 14 hours ago

And millions of voters looked at him and thought "Yup, that's my guy!".

[-] Chais@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago

Just as much a piece of shit as they are.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 11 points 21 hours ago

And, like in the Untied States, I'm bewildered at the asinine system that allows getting elected to be a viable way to avoid prosecution

[-] athairmor@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I wonder if they can try him in absentia.

[-] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

They likely will. Pretty sure they already tried his dad

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 12 points 19 hours ago

That's weird, why would this guy think this place should give him sanctuary?

[-] flandish@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago

because he’s a fascist criminal and the US is run by them. So he’ll prob run for office somewhere here.

[-] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago

Sounds like we finally have one to sic ICE on!

[-] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago

In the words of a certain bronzed and bloated baboon: "They're not sending their best... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us."

But of course we're accepting this scumbag. Because he fits in so well with those currently in charge.

[-] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 11 points 22 hours ago

My policy on immigrants and ICE has suddenly changed in a way I could never have anticipated.

[-] Funkt4st1c@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

[-] Hegar@fedia.io 14 points 1 day ago

Fascist fraudster flavio flees fearing fetters? Fantastic!

[-] GirthBrooksPLO@lemmy.world 6 points 21 hours ago

We are sending his ass and his bum dad back soon.

[-] TN2VOA@reddthat.com 1 points 3 hours ago

His dad is still in Brazil, under house arrest.

[-] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 4 points 21 hours ago

[-] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 18 hours ago

I mean, give it a week and someone else will have the job.

[-] zoloftt@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

He already planned to leave... Probably knowing he'd be convicted of something....

[-] iamnotme@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

I’ve seen another story saying he was ordered to hand in his passport and he said he was going to comply.

[-] athairmor@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

Well, if you read the article, he didn’t hand them in and they were canceled. Also:

A senior Brazilian Federal Police official said Bolsonaro has not exited the country via any regular migration point.

Probably, took off on someone’s private yacht or something like that.

[-] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 6 points 23 hours ago

They say he crossed over land to Argentina and had a plane waiting there to take him to the US, but bailed on the last part (at least with that particular plane) when the plot was revealed.

[-] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago

He is probably being pedantic, and meant he'd hand in his passport to US customs agents

[-] CrimeIsLegalNow@ani.social 8 points 1 day ago

Alternatively, he's a liar.
