Jobpocalypse has been happening since the 70s.

The thing is the job losses are not related to how well AI can do a job, they're related to how well a stupid person thinks they can do a job.

Those are wildly different things.

And amazing in my related work to see CEOs far more unlikely to properly understand genai and their limitations. Its as if we somehow got the dumbest people to lead all industries. They sell and sell well which also explains why they are often sociopathic. But its not a good thing. Being good at selling does not seem to correlate with basic intelligence. All the warnings about the limits of GenAI are right there.

I thinks its because llms let CEOs smell their own farts and they love it. LLMs are sycophantic and please the idiots no matter what they say.

They are sycophantic and very good at making total bullshit sound very smart. Two things CEOs love the most!

No it's not. The apocalypse for jobs is already realized and will get much worse. Look at the tech industry and tell me the hundreds of thousands of job losses aren't happening I guess?

The only thing slowing adoption of LLMs as a replacement for people is the cost.

AI should pay taxes for shrinking payroll.

EY-Parthenon, a division of the global accounting firm EY, polled 50 Canadian business leaders from large companies for its latest Canada CEO Outlook survey. The results show some executives are eyeing smaller, more productive workforces with the help of AI.

Only 50 people were surveyed. I don't know if that can really be representative of anything.

Anyway, 23 of them are hoping AI will let them cut staff.
