Democrat Abdul El-Sayed’s former opponent in the Michigan Senate primary, Haley Stevens, is appearing with Republican candidate Mike Rogers at a Detroit church after intraparty tensions have boiled over days before the election.

The appearance comes after the congresswoman was uninvited to a joint event Sunday with El-Sayed, who defeated her by a slim margin in the August primary.

Stevens has been critical of El-Sayed’s comments surrounding Israel. Her fiance said last week he was voting for Rogers, claiming El-Sayed had not done enough to address concerns of the Jewish community.

Fat lot of good it did them.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

What turnoil? She's a sideshow.

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 98 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

This is just more confirmation that the right candidate won. Losing the primary and then supporting the republican is some scummy shit.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 23 points 2 days ago

Fucking toddler throwing a tantrum vibe.

[-] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 hours ago

She definitely spat her pacifier and threw all her toys out of the stroller.

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

I think they're showing their true self. Would have another Fetterman.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 days ago

Israel is paying her handsomely im sure

[-] Eldritch@piefed.world 10 points 2 days ago

Honestly, the party should do her a favor. Permanently kick her from it.

[-] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 56 points 2 days ago

I am a Democrat in Michigan and the first thing i am doing tomorrow morning is calling every goddamn number I can find and insist they kick Haley out of the fucking party.

She's a rat-fuck traitor.

[-] yonderbarn@lazysoci.al 35 points 2 days ago

We just dodged a potential Kyrsten Sinema.

[-] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

She and her horse-faced fiance are mid-manic burndown of everything. She going full-on Bonnie and Clydesdale.

[-] CedricWhaley@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I'd say more of a discount Stephen Miller than horse.

[-] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Sure, but then I don't get to use the Bonnie and Clyde pun. :)

[-] CedricWhaley@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 22 hours ago

I can't argue with that logic.

[-] apftwb@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Or a John Fetterman.

[-] Major_Tsiom@fedia.io 4 points 2 days ago

Absolutely. It was a tight race too. The monster just took its mask off.

[-] apftwb@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Ummm. I guess you don't need to.

(Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party)

[-] BillCheddar@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

State party, good start.

I want to see the same statement from Jeffries. Take away her D label in congress. Take away her caucus vote, her committee seats. You can't allow treachery like this. It would be like a gang allowing undercover cops in their ranks.

[-] thecaptaintrout@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago

Same, please share any numbers you find please. This is just disgusting on top of all her other BS

[-] Number_103@lemmy.world 44 points 2 days ago

While I could come up with well reasoned arguments against Rogers, you really only need one: HE DOESN’T FUCKING LIVE IN MICHIGAN.

He can fuck off back to Florida where he belongs, and Stevens can go with him.

[-] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 38 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

He is a real threat to the establishment. Unlike Mamdani, he was born here (*meaning, he can become president). He's actually a medical doctor, and he tells the truth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmodf-lNGEE

[-] Blibly@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

This woman and her husband are evil. They want to subject this country to further fascist descent for a paycheck from their owners. Those same owners are in the epstein files and part of a broader circle of powerful perverts and slavers.

Stevens, Rogers, Trump, Thiel, Musk, Netanyahu, Barak, Wexler...all joined together. This is who we're dealing with.

[-] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

When I read her campaign site, it was just a bunch of generic feel good happy bullshit without any specific stances or commitments. That's when I knew I was voting for El-Sayed in the primary. Glad I was able to see through her worthless bullshit. Go fuck yourself sideways, Hailey. I voted today and couldn't be happier to cast mine for El-Sayed.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

More than appearing with, she's now given a full on Mike Rogers endorsement.

This is the central philosophy of "centrism". Whenever you vote for a centrist, this is who you are voting for.

[-] Hegar@fedia.io 6 points 2 days ago

Centrists are santa claus - obvious bullshit meant to dupe children.

Sure as presents come from mom, every adult knows centrists are actually right wingers.

[-] BigMacHole@thelemmy.club 16 points 3 days ago

Remember to VOTE BLUE no matter WHO!

-Haley Stevens (D) who's CAMPAIGNING with Mike Rodgers (R)!

[-] zoloftt@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Can't tell if sarcasm...

Edit: WHY do you COMMENT like THIS? I was trying to understand if you were being sarcastic or not and your comment history is full of EMPHASIS via CAPS

[-] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

It's a novelty account, so it's sarcasm.

[-] zoloftt@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

If Satansmaggotycumfart is any indicator, then I never know when it's "novelty" or novelty...

[-] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It's said that if you say Satan's name three times in the mirror, they'll come out and mock you for your bad takes.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

BigMacHole has kept the snark flowing freely for years at this point. I think.

Best to let it just wash over you rather than think about it

Edit: 7mo?? Must be a new instance, yeah?

[-] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I guess this is meant to cast Stevens as a generic avatar of "centrist"-death-mask-wearing conservatives who demand unconditional support from progressives if they win but won't give it back if they lose?

But I don't know if Stevens said or demanded that, so it's a bit confusing, and could also be read to attack the phrase "vote blue no matter who." Which is a turnoff since it mimics right-wing sarcastic comments meant to mock democratic voters who vote for "least evil" dem candidates over fascist right candidates - i.e., intended left turnout suppression. So seems like the novelty bit is getting in the way of actual, you know, communication.

Those were just some of my hilarious, important thoughts on the inherently funny topic of sober, lengthy deconstruction of comedy. (That was sarcasm, if such a thing can possibly work without all caps.) (That was also sarcasm. /s) (Despite the "/s," that last one wasn't sarcasm.) (Feeling good about this one.)

[-] zoloftt@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Yeah, I had to ask, because Stevens isn't the candidate you're voting for... So vote blue no matter who ™️/s doesn't quite hit because she got primary'd.

Which is WHY PEOPLE NEED TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES

Whoops, too many caps this time

[-] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

No no, the caps made me understand your sarcasm!

Wait, no, sorry.

No NO, the CAPS made me understand your SARCASM!

Oh, that's better.

But I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. And neither were you! DAMN IT.

[-] Lumidaub@feddit.org 12 points 2 days ago

I have to say, as a very selfish European looking for entertainment (and outright ignoring the larger geopolitical effects), US politics keep not disappointing. The pettiness and self-sabotage is just... brilliant.

(From the outside. I'm very aware that it fucking sucks from the inside.)

Remember the day before the NYC mayoral election when Trump endorsed Andrew Como who was running as a spoiler candidate against Mamdani? I see similaries.

Good job Michigan for not letting Haley Stevens win the primary. We cannot afford another John Fetterman in the Senate.

Thats an insult to cunts. She lacks the depth and warmth

[-] likebudda@reddthat.com 7 points 2 days ago

Sore losers gonna loser.

[-] zbyte64@awful.systems 4 points 2 days ago

It doesn't help that Democrat leaders of the party have refused to endorse him

[-] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

They work for AIPAC

[-] Suavevillain@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

She is a great real time example of why the Who part of voting Blue Matters. I'll won't support AIPAC shills like her. Her using Black voters as a prop for the endorsement was nasty work.

[-] Corvidae@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

This is why the Separation of Church and State is so important.

[-] rumimevlevi@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Something is wrong in you. If an white supremacist like Tucker say I would never vote for Roger but a democrat would

[-] bw42@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

She was a piece of shit before. This isn't surprising.

Told her primary campaign to fuck off on the isreali dick it rode in on when they spammed me for support.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago
