A Maryland hairdresser who voted for Donald Trump in 2024 after believing his promises to lower living costs said she has since lost her home and car, struggled to pay her credit cards, and watched customers disappear from her business. Now, she bitterly regrets helping return him to the White House, declaring that only the devil could govern with such cruelty.

Celia Salmerón, 58, accused the Trump administration of bringing hardship rather than the financial relief he promised voters. She immigrated from El Salvador as a child, and now runs a hair salon in a working-class Maryland neighbourhood with a large Hispanic population.

'He promised to give us money. But he didn't give us anything. What he gave us this time were problems,' Salmerón recently told a media outlet, adding that she had been unable to keep up with her debts and had lost almost everything she worked to build.

'Ever since Trump came in, I have been bankrupt. I have lost everything: my house, my car. I can't pay my credit cards,' she said.

'If I had known this man was going to behave this way, I would not have voted for him. And I regret voting for him,' she added.

in other words, "if I had been paying the slightest bit of attention to the past decade, I would not have voted for him"

[-] pman@reddthat.com 2 points 23 minutes ago

Another leopard eating faces of those voting for the leopard eating faces party.

The classic FAFO and zero sympathy. I will continue to type it as long as the MAGA fucknuts exist. I'm certain she supports the El Salvadoran fucknut Bukele too.

[-] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 10 points 1 hour ago

Oh NOW you regret it when your ass is feeling the heat well welcome to the find out phase of your journey, it'll be awhile and you'll lose even more along the way, enjoy the ride dumbass!

  1. The Pedo-in-Chief TOLD you morons that he doesn't care about you and only cares about your vote, has told you to your faces that he thinks you're stupid, yet you voted for his conman ass.

And

  1. You didn't care until his BS started affecting you, so go fuck yourself. You get zero pity. The rest of us wish you the worst.

She believed that thing? Wait, wait, WAIT...she believed that useless fat orange child raping pathological liar?

Well, fuck you. You fucking dumb twat. And I mean that from every fibre of my being. FUCK YOU.
"Ooooh, the notorious raper of women and children who can't tell the truth just said he'd make me richer so I'll vote for that, ooooh!"

"I did 0 research before voting on something that impacts everyone else, and then it turned out to be bad, for ME!"

We need voting to require proof that you spent more than 5 seconds researching the candidates and their policies, the average voter is just unreal. How is it possible the only reason trump is unpopular is just because prices are high, not his heinous policy or his 959204 crimes?

"Only the devil behaves that way"

Of course its a religious nutcase 🙀 so surprising 🙄

Maybe start by not seing the magic wish-granting fairy in everything...

A functioning adult with voting power shouldn't need an imaginary friend to tell them right or wrong ffs

[-] EatMyPixelDust@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 hours ago

Yeah, well, you should have listened when people told you not to vote for him!!

[-] Baguette@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 3 hours ago

At least she understands she was stupid and misguided

Better than the ones in the trenches still thinking he's their savior

[-] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 hours ago

I am sure she will vote for pedopres again.

[-] DonJefe@lemmy.world 11 points 4 hours ago

Those leopards have gotten soooo fat in these 2 years

[-] nosuchanon@lemmy.world 33 points 7 hours ago

You should have listened to all the people that fucking told you so

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 86 points 9 hours ago

Have the day you voted for dumbass. Those people never had a problem with Trump doing evil things. They only have a problem if it affects them.

[-] 7112@lemmy.world 44 points 8 hours ago
[-] MBech@feddit.dk 46 points 9 hours ago

And they see a problem with Trump, not republicans in general. They'll be right back to voting republican again next election (and probably the current election too)

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 8 points 5 hours ago
[-] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

And those forced trans surgeries on kids

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 61 points 9 hours ago

I don't even understand how anyone could have watched him and think, yeah, he'll be totally great for America.

Especially if you are non-white and/or immigrated here.

What do they think signs like "Mass Deportation Now" even mean?

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 10 points 5 hours ago

These people are religious single issue voters

[-] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago

So stupid people that have no business voting in the first place, got it.

[-] treesapx@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

A lot of the ones I meet/talk to believe that he is the billionaire business genius that his marketing sells.

[-] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 16 points 5 hours ago

There's a statistic I saw the other day that something like 90% of Trump voters have never actually listened to him speak. Like, not properly. They see him in clips and soundbites. Part of a sentence, that sort of thing. When you cherry pick, you can find the stuff that sounds good, and they just fill in the rest. It's only when you hear him for a solid minute that you really get that awful sense that this is not a remotely cogent or intelligent human being.

They're not voting for Donald Trump, they're voting for the guy from The Apprentice. They're voting for a character, and that character sounds like someone who knows how to solve money problems and make deals. They figure, that's all politics really is, right?

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Of all the memeplexes out there, the one about how America and rugged individualism is best exemplified as "small business owners" and/or businessmen, and that this country ought to be run by these types, i.e, as a business, meaning a "CEO President".

Just the most incorrect and toxic set of ideas, all intertwined.

[-] Archer@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

Jesus fucking christ that’s bleak. Explains a lot though

[-] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 41 points 8 hours ago

I especially don't understand how a hairdresser could watch him and think, yeah, that's the hair of a sane person with good priorities.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 11 points 8 hours ago

Oh my word, that's a very good point.

🤣

[-] Gpennyhigh@lemmy.world 11 points 7 hours ago

He bragged about assaulting women and they said that's for me!! They fall for the propaganda blaming minorities and join the bad team to feel belonging, it's really sad, they could join the good team to belong as well but choose bad.

[-] nerdo@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Americans lost their republic because they didn’t deserve it. They are a morally and mentally flawed, lazy people.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.ca 67 points 10 hours ago

I wish humans were smarter :(

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 hours ago

They are, but they need adequate education rather than evil indoctrination. They need social media without misinformation algorithms that prey on their tribal instincts. They need proper guidance and love as children to develop healthy coping skills. They need to be kept away from dark triad people.

[-] Freeposity@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago

I wish they had more empathy more than anything else.

[-] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 3 points 4 hours ago

Fun Fact: Conservatives are biologiclly unable to experience empathy. It is not possible to hold conservative views and experience empathy simultaneously.

[-] Freeposity@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Conservatives are limited by ingroup/outgroup thinking when it comes to empathy, the Epstein class simply lost their empathy altogether. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-wealth-reduces-compassion/

[-] Radical_Socialist_t00t@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 hours ago

Conservatives and Capitalism are what is killing us AND the planet we live on.

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 20 points 9 hours ago

Granted. One person is now insanely smart, enough so that the average human intelligence is significantly raised, but in practice nobody ever listens to the smart person because they're too dumb.

Wait, I've seen this movie.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

Alex, give me "How every midwit in the universe feels for $300".

[-] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 38 points 9 hours ago

First time, you’re gullible. Second time, you’re malicious.

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

I hate it when articles like this don't include the person's voting history

her phrasing implies that she voted for him before, but it's not stated.

[-] oppy1984@lemdro.id 3 points 4 hours ago

After January 6th, your a insurrectionist supporting traitor.

voted for Donald Trump in 2024 after believing his promises to lower living costs

No she didn't.

immigrated from El Salvador as a child,

Implying she had any say in the matter as a child. Her parent(s) made the decision and dragged her along regardless of her feelings on the matter.

Celia Salmerón, 58, accused the Trump administration of bringing hardship

She willingly voted for a guy who said he'll be deporting her Mexican ass back to Mexico. As well as how Mexicao isn't sending their best. She thought that the Orange Pedo knows El Salvador isn't Mexico and she's special since she's not Mexican and Trump isn't talking about her and her totally-not-Mexican family.

only the devil could govern with such cruelty.

He told everyone in the world about his intent to unleash cruelty and she thought it won't affect her because she's not Mexican or "black" or Haitian. She's special and "an American". Forgetting where her El Salvadorian ass came from.

Many of Salmerón's clients are undocumented immigrants, including some with pending asylum claims, making her neighbourhood particularly vulnerable to the administration's aggressive immigration enforcement.

He told everyone he'll be cruel and you chose to vote for him and his cruelty because you're too stupid and self centred to realize you'll be affected and targeted as well.

Tough titties, Celia Salmerón from Not-Mexico.

Trump's economic promises and immigration policies are alienating voters who helped deliver his return to the White House.

Lol. At least 30% are still singing "aye vil woat for Donol Tromp" and joining ICE to dish out cruelty.

Bon Voyage, Latinos for Trump.

[-] Vince@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago

I've always wondered how people got fooled by such obvious lies. Now I'm getting the picture of someone who probably based their decision on nothing but a couple of ads. The mediocre honest promises have no chance against grandiose lies if they believe both.

[-] farmgineer@nord.pub 1 points 6 minutes ago

I have family that fell into this. Blame things confidently on one or two big bad outgroups, DARVO anything to the contrary, and make the other group plenty-othered. Bonus points if they're non-christian or "fake" christians (catholics, LDS, whatever).

It's never that simple, but news bubbles and social media can sure make it look like that to people, especially those who may have declining faculties in age.

[-] BlueOysterCultist@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 hours ago

Single issue voters, hand wave/ignore the rest

My parent voted for RFK Jr :/

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

My mother in law was going to vote for him, she's otherwise reasonable and intelligent. Her low media literacy coupled with addiction to social media convinced her that was the best choice. She knew nothing about snake oil or heroin or lack of belief in germ theory. The guy said he'd put her grandson in a camp and she didn't know about that either. If I hadn't been there to explain she would have happily voted because Kennedy means good. There are millions not as lucky and voted exactly like that, or voted for Trump when Kennedy joined him.

I probably wouldn't say this in public outside of these safe spaces.

That Maryland hairdresser and every other dumb fuck who voted for Trump is stupid.

The end.

In my real world life, I handle these conversations with Trump Voters.,as follows: Well, we definitely need to learn and we need to put a stop to this craziness. I think we've all been misled.

Haha and lol! They keep thinking they know better than what all the data shows on every issue, and are wrong, but keep doubling down on being wrong. It's their team tradition and sadly it brainwashes too many people repeatedly and they go against what is proven to work.
