It's a fine line, but I agree with both of them.
I don't want revenge, I want justice and consequences for abuse of power.

I would rather have a real healthcare system and functioning support systems for people in need.

I just want the system to work. Coincidentally, corruption and abuse of power being treated as crimes is a part of that. I don't want more abuses of power.

So yes, get stuff done on my behalf. And some of those things should require people to lawyer up.

I want Democrats to give up this "We go high" bullshit. I want them to fight as dirty as Republicans do.

[-] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 hours ago

Specifically, I want progressives and leftists to go hard. Liberals can sit on their thumbs please and thank you

[-] GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world 17 points 8 hours ago

How the fuck tdid Jefferies come away from this election with the idea that the voters don't want investigations and prison time for these fucks? Read the room Hakeem !

[-] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

Hakeemish Jefferberg? That guy?

[-] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

He checked all the notes from his donors and they clearly state that they want a quiet return to business as usual, with no additional thoughts as to what the end goal of that would be. Is he doing something wrong?

Because he represents the wealthy, and not the average American.

[-] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Jefferies and Schumer had better not be anywhere the discussion if Democrats want to keep this momentum going. This whole mess was caused by Hillary and DWS not allowing Bernie to run against Trump in 2016...and they are just an extension of that.

[-] Pxtl@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 hours ago

Even Schumer wasn't as tone deaf as Jeffries. He put cleaning the corruption out of the Trump government as his #2 priority (over cost of living, of course). Still a weak answer but nothing like as pathetic as Jeffries.

[-] ol_capt_joe@piefed.social 44 points 11 hours ago

Listen closely I'm only gonna say this a thousand times: If we don't come down hard on these clowns, we are gonna be up to our balls in jugglers

For the Greater Good!

[-] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 50 points 11 hours ago

Jeffries and Schumer are going to cockblock the progressives to appease the wealthy and Israel.

I really hope the progressives cause headaches for the DNC and force real change.

[-] cnirrad@lemmy.world 95 points 12 hours ago

Jeffries line of thinking is how we got into this mess to begin with. If we'd have prosecuted Trump for the treason of jan 6, he'd never have gotten a a second term. Jeffries is a coward and should not be in a leadership position.

[-] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 50 points 12 hours ago

If we'd have prosecuted George W Bush's people for their self-dealing, the torture, the assassinations, and extraordinary renditions to CIA blacksites maybe Trump wouldn't have even bothered running for office in the first place

Also, Nixon should have hung for undermining Vietnam peace talks in 1968

[-] cmbabul@lemmy.world 31 points 12 hours ago

Add in Reagan for Iran-Contra, Gingrich for undermining and poisoning democracy, and Kissinger just because I want to celebrate that death again

[-] MrVilliam@sh.itjust.works 11 points 11 hours ago

Every day that you wake up is a new day where Kissinger didn't, so every day is cause for at least some amount of celebration.

[-] cmbabul@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

I say “fuck Henry Kissinger, may he rot in a place worse than hell” as a toast

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 11 hours ago

🎶 Henry Kissinger How I'm missing ya 🎶

[-] AppleTea@lemmy.zip 15 points 12 hours ago

I'm still kinda bitter about how everything after Bush was handled. The platform Obama ran, the margin he won with, the national attitude even! He could have started rolling back everything Bush, try to actually deliver change.

Maybe all the entrenched institutions would have been able to push back. But we'll never know, cus the admin never even tried.

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 6 points 9 hours ago

Everybody needs to harass their reps into not voting for him. Schumer too.

[-] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 hours ago

Don't just tell them who not to choose. Give them names of who you'd like to see instead.

[-] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 36 points 11 hours ago

Holding criminals accountable for their crimes is not "getting even". The dumb shit is playing right into right wing rhetoric

[-] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 10 hours ago

Playing right into right-wing rhetoric is all AIPAC Shakur knows how to do.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 10 hours ago

Only if you remember the twentyfirst night of September.

Done and Done. It’s like some kinda BOOGIE WONDERLAND

[-] decolo@piefed.social 18 points 10 hours ago

https://youtu.be/YJLHX9AyLqw

look at the comments. Hakeem is uniting people effortlessly. (against him).

I scrolled for at least 5 minutes and every single top level comment is telling him to gtfo

[-] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 10 points 9 hours ago

Yep, this election was a direct rebuke of democratic leadership as well. They did not want ALL of these Democrats to win. They will not play nicely with Sayed, but they WILL play nicely with Jim Jordan and John Thune.

This election was America collectively saying "it's time for Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jefferies to get off the pot, we need to shit"

Do not let them hold onto the gavel. Give it to someone that will wield it for progress.

[-] yesman@lemmy.world 47 points 13 hours ago

America punishing powerful men would be more unprecedented than anything else in this election. If Benedict Arnold hadn't fled to England, they'd probably put statues of him up by now.

[-] db2@lemmy.world 33 points 12 hours ago

Get even? Hell no. Do what should have been done after the civil war, dozens of times between, and after the Jan 6 insurrection.

Punish severely. Make it hurt and make it memorable so that shit fucking stops happening.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago

I. Demand. Vengence.

They can, they should, and they must.

[-] OwOarchist@pawb.social 18 points 12 hours ago

If you want to 'heal the nation', you must do both. The patient can't ever heal until you cut the tumor out.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 12 points 10 hours ago

Step One: Replace Jeffries

[-] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 26 points 12 hours ago

Don't do it for me or anyone's perceived vengeance. Holding corrupt people to account isn't about getting even, we've got to do it for the sake of a fair system of rules for everybody, not a separate set of rules for the rich and connected.

Don't hold back on prosecuting former Pres Clinton for his Epsteinery as much as anyone else involved.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

Obvs, but we do have priorities

[-] Steve@startrek.website 8 points 10 hours ago

I want revenge

[-] BillionaireStew@lemmy.world 17 points 12 hours ago

Just by not being bought and paid for by AIPAC, Ro Khanna would be a much better speaker of the house than Hakeem Jeffries.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ro_Khanna#NO_PAC_caucus

[-] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

How about campaign finance reform and strengthened enforcement for all.

Tear down the entire money pipeline. If no one can legally bribe politicians, then AIPAC can't either. Money is not speech.

[-] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 12 points 13 hours ago

Dont they usually get all bricked up about the Lord's Vengeance? Here you go

[-] mystik@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

The thing we want done is to make sure the other side doesn’t pull shit underhanded like this again

[-] zarathustrad@lemmy.world 6 points 10 hours ago

I know right, well it easy of you apply the rules to everyone.

Hot take. Close the loopholes for everyone. Limit executive power, for everyone. Campaign finance reform, for everyone. It's not complicated.

[-] mystik@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Absolutely. I want a fair government. And any dems in the Epstine files, they’re out too. Government only works if we all have trust in it and the rules and laws are applied evenly and consistently

[-] AgentSeven@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 hours ago

And so, more of the same from the establishment.
