Why is it still $600

[-] Landless2029@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I want thicker more durable phones with longer battery life back.

Idk about everyone else but slapping a case on each and every new phone is stupid.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 1 day ago

Why are all these speciality phones always the same price as a flagship? Why would I buy a worce phone fhe the same price as last years galaxy s?

[-] MBech@feddit.dk 1 points 1 day ago

Might be the price difference Samsung, Apple and whatever get from selling your data?

[-] moxyy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I'm still holding on to my iphone mini 13, cuz' I really like one-handed phones. This has NFC and an SD Card slot which is my biggest needs... and the support life seems awesome. My biggest worry - the processor.

[-] Spezi@feddit.org 4 points 1 day ago

For that prie with those specs I’ll think it will be rather unattractive to most people. A single camera, a cheap screen, a low end processor. I can get a Ikko Mind one or a commodore callback, which are much more pocketable. The latter one even has exchangeable batteries.

[-] Ripley_Tripley@lemmus.org 2 points 1 day ago

Crazy thing I was thinking the same thing. I was trying to justify the 400 USD price tag on the commodore but now it makes way more sense than this phone

[-] uberfreeza@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago

I get that we can't use the metric system, but I use an Android phone. I don't know how big or small an iPhone 13 Mini is.

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

5.3 inches (thats around 13 centimeters) Read the article.

[-] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

3.2 iPod nanos then. 1/8 of a MacBook air. 1/4 of an iPad. See? 1 iPhone 13 mini just makes more sense.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago

But how many corgis is that?

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

same. judging from the thumbnail and the phone that I'm typing this on, it's appropriately sized for one hand use. good.

[-] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Well, when i see one running linux ill buy one... so prolly never

[-] GarboDog@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

THANK YOU! If it’s not 2k like the Motorola then we may get this lol

[-] 01189998819991197253@infosec.pub 45 points 2 days ago

Unless it has an unlockable bootloader and ability for installing custom roms, it's just another useless thing for the landfill.

Will it run Graphene? Lineage? Calyx?

With the pure derp of Google my primary deciding factor is support for alternative OS images.

[-] blanket@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 days ago

looks like degoogled & modified aosp with a minimalistic approach

Thanks, all my interest in this product just reduced to zero saving me time and money!

[-] moxyy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I was under the impression with Google's new policy you'd still be able to turn off the unverified installations check (albeit with a 24 hour waiting period), in the dev options. Crazy that Google is trying to take away the one thing that keeps me using it over Apple.

[-] lastweakness@lemmy.world 52 points 2 days ago

I love it! They just helped me out by completely killing my consumerist urge to get the device!

[-] blanket@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago

oh gross. I didn't dig too much into it but that's about all I need to know to stay away.

[-] artyom@piefed.social 24 points 2 days ago

LOOOOLOL imagine trying to sell a "DeGoogled" OS but it's actually just like Google, but somehow shittier. What a load.

They give you a USBC to 3.5 mm converter for the headphones, so unfortunately not a true 3.5 mm jack.

Yeah, no fucking way I'm carrying around an adaptor

[-] tacgnol@thelemmy.club 4 points 1 day ago

I just keep it plugged into the headphones, it's as if it's not even there. But I would also prefer a jack.

[-] g0d0fm15ch13f@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I'm waiting for a phone with a decent DAC and a true headphone jack to replace my v60. That moondrop or whatever phone a few years back almost did it for me, but not quite.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

Nice. I have no desire to carry a tablet around in my pocket. So tired of these massive phones. These things are supposed to be portable.

You can pick almost any mid-range device in the 500 euro price range and that thing does 95% of what the 2k€ flagship does except fold in half and cost month's wage. That's Enough Phone for anyone.

[-] MolochHorridus@piefed.social 4 points 1 day ago

None of them is nearly as small as iPhone 13 mini.

[-] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Yeah but theyre all sized like tablets cause that is something that apparently appeals to poorer people, having slab phones?

[-] eleitl@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

I try to keep my phones under 300 EUR.
