I live in Texas, and while I suspect most people here like pickup trucks, I detest them. Only a pickup that is all beaten up from heavy use or seems to be actively being used can be forgiven. Everything else is just an eyesore to me. And if you live in Texas and you want to know a shortcut for identifying the worst drivers on the road, just look for any large meticulously maintained pickup truck. The driver is guaranteed to be an asshole.

I still remember the day I first saw the Cybertruck. I couldn't believe they found a way to make pickup trucks uglier. I never believed they'd actually manufacture any or get anybody to buy one. It was just so obvious. Nobody would want to drive an embarrassment like that.

LOL, wonder why they did this after the election? I heard someone talking on a podcast about how they see people laughing and pointing and taking pictures of one that is often sitting in a parking lot near them...

Anyway, if you want to signify what a complete asshole you are, this car screams that.

Every time I see one, I roll down my window and point.

I do my part to sabotage the brand.

No one in a Tesla should feel cool.

LOL, wonder why they did this after the election?

Because the plan was to feed Tesla Cybertrucks to Spacex and pay on government contracts.

I read an article that said 20% of the sales were to companies he owned.

And even with that, it did worse than the Edsel. 🤣

I still flip off the two or three I see driving around my small town regularly. Fuck em lmao have fun with your zero resale value once Tesla completely drops parts support

[-] Malica@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

I just get away from them, they're incredibly dangerous and I don't want to risk an accident involving one

with your zero resale value

The resale value has already been dropping like a rock, even more than usual for electric cars.

Honestly, though ... if they ever get really cheap -- like, under $5k -- I might actually consider buying one. Of course, I'll also need to consider the additional cost of printing large vinyl stickers on the side of it explaining that I despise Musk, but just want something cheap that can (maybe?) haul a hay trailer without burning gas.

I sure wouldn't buy one. I guarantee Tesla will drop all parts support like a rock an it will be unrepairable for any price. Plus any minor accident will be an instant total because of the panelling and unibody.

Don't forget cast aluminum frame

Perfect. I'll get one that's already dented and get it for super cheap.

Before you haul anything with a cybertruck watch the diesel guy on YouTube accidentally rip the rear end off one

[-] Rocketpoweredgorilla@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 hours ago

Never seen one in real life and I don't care to. I'm probably safe because I doubt one would survive the shale roads or a Canadian prairie winter anyway.

You're not missing much lol. Their headlights are super weirdly positioned and they're a bit too shiny in bright sunlight to be comfortable to look at.
