Thanks for reporting. We had some DNS issues, which have now been resolved, so hopefully federation should resume (assuming DNS was the root cause). We'll keep an eye on it.

Hi! I think there is still a problem with federation. My comment didn't federated however I can at least see the posts from federation. So it's possible our comments and possibly upvotes/downvotes don't register with federated instances.

I also didn't get notifications about new comments though that could be related to downtime of the server, but if federation should've continued after that, there might be a problem there as well.

Edit: Upvotes seems to be registering.

Ategon's comment below suggests that any comments made during our broken federation period would have been dropped, so unfortunately they will never federate. I don't know much about how federation works, I am guessing this is a bug in lemmy.

Everything from now onwards should federate across hopefully.

By the way there might still be problems but they could be on the other instances as well. I made a comment on lemmy.ml and it appeared almost instantly while my other comment on lemmy.world still didn't federate.

Edit: Apparently my supposed to fail comment on lemmy.world somehow federated with blahaj.zone but not lemmy.world itself. I deleted that comment and re-commented there and it still didn't appear, however both are can be seen on blahaj.zone now. Weird things are happening. :)

I think that post got messed up since it was made during the issues so even new comments on it have issues. I can see some programming.dev comments working on some newer lemmy.world posts. Let me know if you still notice it from new ones though

I see, so it's a bigger issue than a sole instance problem. Ok I'll report if I notice new ones.

Ah I see. Thanks for letting me now, didn't notice the comment.

Still seeing it as of 04:10 UTC. Posts I made to remote communities at 03:22 and 04:05 (lemmy.zip and lemmy.world) never showed up there, and lemmy.world / lemmy.zip / sh.itjust.works all return couldnt_find_person for my account, even though federated_instances shows the queue as delivered with fail_count 0. Community follows have been stuck on Pending too. Pictrs uploads also still time out (http://pictrs:8080/image). Thanks for looking into it!

Check again now, we beleive we have fixed it

Checked, my account shows up on lemmy.zip and sh.itjust.works now, so it looks fixed. Thanks.

note that it was the type of failure that I believe dropped some activities so ones made during the downtime wont federate but new ones should
