Ideally, id also be able to block an entire instance as well, such as the country/language specific ones where i dont speak the language.

I was literally looking for a way to do that when I came across this post. We REALLY need a way to filter out communities we don't need.

Do you not use subscriptions...?

[–] mpro@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

can only speak for myself, but I generally like to browse through everything, there's always some interesting things popping up on magazines I haven't subscribed to yet. I think subscriptions is more like a personal feed and "all" is like browsing. and blocking stuff is- well, to block out stuff I'm really not interested in

I have sadly just turned federation off since there isn't a easy way block other instances yet.

There's a section for blocked "domains" in your block settings but I've yet to figure out how to block entire instances

And then there is a block button in the right side panel, next to the Subscribe link. At least, for desktop...

For mobile (even in "desktop site" view), it seems to appear beneath the list of posts/etc rather than as a right side panel. Just use find-in-page and search for "Subscribe"; should be right next to that.

On mobile, you can tap the hamburger button to quickly check th sidebar as well.

You already can! Just open the side bar (over by subscribe/unsubscribe) and click on the stop sign icon to block that magazine

Personally, I feel like having the block button constantly appearing next to every magazine name might be overkill. I'd be happy to have an interface like ...

  • Block

    • Block User
    • Block Magazine
    • Block Instance

... under the "more" menu.
