Did the writers go on strike? Today was the deadline.
I’m not aware of any last minute deal but their contract expires at midnight so the strike wouldn’t technically begin until tomorrow, February 1st. If I recall correctly, picketing will take place in NYC, LA, and Chicago.

Are they? Good luck and god-speed to them. The publishers of these companies are awful. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to just get college students to generate content using LLMs for "exposure".
These people are the worst, and I fear that they don't care if their content is garbage. But I hope that if the writers don't get a fair deal, they make a new site or something.
Looks like they reached a deal a few hours ago. Good for them. Strikes are important but they fucking suck on all sides.
