After a discussion and co-operation with PTP senior-staff, We would like to extend a limited time opportunity to all PTP users for a chance to apply for an MTV account. We fully expect PTP to come back stronger than ever, but we understand this may be a difficult time. PTP holds a special place in our hearts as it does for the community as a whole, and we are excited to see their return :ptplove: :mtvlove:

We are extending this as a courtesy to the community. Please do not abuse this or it will disappear :(

The more information you include, the more likely your application is to be accepted. MTV is in no way to be a replacement for your PTP usage upon their return. Just add it into your rotation as they will compliment each other. Don't forget after getting accepted, to view your security page to add your 2 factor authentication and/or create an API key for direct input into your *arr instance.

Note: Ensure you use the same exact email address you use with PTP

Apply at https://morethantv.me/application

We expect you to act as you would on PTP they are watching ( ͡◉◞ ͜ʖ◟ ͡◉)

Ugh this is a rough way to find out PTP is MIA. Hope it comes back.

So good to do this. It was a huge help after the end of bacon bits

[–] CptInsane0@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It would be neat to be able to go the other way too.

I got nervous thinking this meant PTP wasn't coming back. Glad to hear that's not the case!

We fully hope for and anticipate their return :)

Well, I guess here's where I find out how dumb I am for not taking screenshots of my ptp stats every so often

[–] MrRubberDuckyMTV@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Even if you don't have a screenshot of your profile, we invite you to apply. We hope that you still have email access and can take a screenshot of your original invite email as that would also count as proof. If your application does not include either of these, you may still apply but it will require slightly more effort. As at that point we would request you join us on IRC to discuss. As long as there is enough proof to prove you are a current user, you should be able to pass.

I didn't used to take screenshots of my profiles either. However I have seen enough trackers go down on me where I realized it was likely a good idea to do every once in a while. A good strategy could be to save these screens in your password manager with each particular site.

I appreciate your response. I have been on ptp for probably 13 years or more. I definitely haven't kept the invite email that long. I got into uhdb through btn earlier this week, so maybe I'll be alright?

12 years here, still have that baby. I never delete emails like that.

Yeah, always keep invite emails, take profile screens, note down passkey if you're extra diligent, store a .torrent file or the like. When something happens it's usually too late to grab the necessary proof so being prepared (if you care about the account or using it for something later) ahead of time is important. As for the screen, update it when something happens (e.g. you rank up or cross some threshold or the like). It's not crucial but the little bits add to the big picture and helps giving weight to your case in case details are ever needed.

Friendly reminder to all private tracker users: take screenshots of your profiles on a regular basis. Do not listen to idiots yammering on about how they can be faked by editing the html code, or how after x years they served someone no purpose, or any other excuse to not keep tracker proofs on hand.

Situations like this come up more often than might be expected. Right now, BLU is doing open applications for new members to join, and one of the requirements is multiple tracker proofs to increase the chances of being approved.

When a tracker dies, sites take in refugees as a service to those who are displaced. But you aren't getting an invite without proof that you were a member. And again, it doesn't matter that you could edit the html code to spoof all the stats; staff can just check the actual account if they want to.

You never know when a new site may open that you want to join, or a site you are on may go down temporarily or for good, or a tracker you've been eyeing to join suddenly does open applications.

Don't wait until it is too late. If you don't have proofs, make them today. Screenshot your full profile in your browser, edit the image if need be just to blur out your passkey if it is visible, and save the image in a folder with all your other proofs. Set a reminder to update them every 90 days or so.
