I like how the shows main characters are British, and the main location is in Britain... but apparently people are unhappy it's been Americanized. Are there any scenes that even take place in the US? I think there's only one American character.

The show is really good, it would have been cool to see more things in the universe like he planned to do.

Yes. Episode 8 has scenes in the US.

[–] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yes... at the United Nations in New York

Ah yeah. Thank you.

I mean, sex education is also like that, very much in england. But very strong american vibe.

[–] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 2 points 7 months ago

That's interesting. How is sex education Americanized?

Buddy you're yelling at a cloud, as right as you might be.

Woah what the hell, I had no idea. That's really... unfortunate. I've heard it's a good series, it's a shame he didn't even get to see its release.

The series is definitely great, give it a shot if you're into Sci-Fi.

I've read and enjoyed the first book, but I didn't realize the series apparently covers all 3, so now I gotta get through the rest before I jump in. Definitely looking forward to it, though.

If you are referring to the Netflix series, it doesn't. That's only covering the first book. There is a Chinese series though (30 episodes) that might; I haven't watched it.

Hold up... Have I been deceived? >.> Thanks for letting me know! In that case, I'll absolutely be watching it.

Part of the plot is from the third book:

Tap for spoilerThe part where they send that guys brain into space

The Netflix show is covering all three books, what are you talking about? Season one is the first book.

[–] viking@infosec.pub 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

There is only one season and it has not yet been confirmed for more, so as of now it's covering the first book.

[–] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 1 points 7 months ago

I literally said season one is the first book.

[–] steal_your_face@lemmy.ml 3 points 7 months ago (2 children)

They’re probably saying the current episodes only cover the first book. I think if the show runners get their way they want to cover all 3 books but last time I checked it hasn’t been renewed for a second season yet.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's big hit for Netflix, it'll get a second season.

[–] steal_your_face@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 months ago

Hope so 🤞

[–] WarmSoda@lemm.ee 1 points 7 months ago

Correct. Season one is the first book. That's what I said.

[–] Amaltheamannen@lemmy.ml 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

The Chinese series is much much better though. 8 episodes is way too short and its been dumbed down a lot. Plus setting in Oxford??

[–] pipariturbiini@sopuli.xyz 1 points 7 months ago

The Tencent show wasn't great either. Sure, it's very loyal to the first book, but it has no pacing at all. Just a constant slog to watch without any lows or highs. The VR scenes were very cool however.

Funny how the Chinese govt says the show has been "Americanized" when the US gov has basically no say over what Netflix releases.

Imagine going through all the effort of ordering and testing poisons, and the best method of delivery you can come up with is personally offering the target this cool new probiotic pill, and also showing and offering it to multiple other people in the office so everyone gets sick and knows it was what you gave them.

Bro should've watched better call Saul first.

Great show and super cool concept. Can't wait to see the rest of the series.
