This is great until news of this leads to all of the dogs being adopted then the children have no one to read to so they get put in the shelter and the dogs have to be removed from their newfound loving homes to come back to the shelter to bark stories at the children in the cages.
Orphan Crushing Machine
A community featuring uplifting and wholesome news stories that overlook deeply ingrained systemic problems.
The rules:
1. Your post must be an unironic presentation of a wholesome story, but one that overlooks systemic failures that made the story possible in the first place. In other words, we want posts that highlight "Yay, the problem is solved!", but ignore "Wait, why was this a problem in the first place?" at the same time.
2. Re-posts will be removed at mod discretion.
3. Sitewide rules apply. Basically, (a) don't be a dick; (b) use the NSFW tag; (c) no spam; (d) don't attack people; and (e) don't abuse the report button.
Partnered communities:
What's the Orphan Crushing Machine here? That stray dogs are being kept at a shelter instead of being out on the street? I know it sucks to realize, but the idea that every dog not having a loving nuclear family to take care of it is sort of a pipe dream. This seems like the best possible scenario all around. Even the shelter looks nice and clean.
IDK, I just wanted to post to this community for content.
You did achieve your one goal, so congrats on that. Well done I guess.
0 post count. Don’t criticize others, for that you choose not to do.
Ya know, you can post too. The more people posts, the less I have to.
While the kids were reading, somebody brutally murdered their parents and the next day they were sold into slavery.
I had to read to my peers, who at that age had zero self control over telling me how shit I read.
Mmm, yes. Dogs, famously known for loving being read to.
My dog loves when people tell her stories! It's less about the content and more about the interaction. The book is totally for the child's benefit so they can learn to read.
This made me imagine a TV show where a kid reads to their dog but the dog understands and is imagining themselves as the book's main character and every week we get a new story starring the dog.
Isn't that Wishbone?
Wow it is! I've never heard of that, I gotta check it out.
There’s also the bonus of showing kids that good dogs come from shelters and not just breeders, and definitely not from puppy mills. These kids will remember this when it’s time to get a dog.
There are better interactions for a dog. For their sake, at least, if that's a priority here at all. The kids will learn to read regardless.
Someone: does something good.
Always that one person: but why not do another good thing instead?
And the other: Yeah, this mediocrity is fine. Everything's great, no room for improvement here.
Dogs tend to just like being included in things.
I'm not arguing against that. Why do you assume I am? Because I'm saying we could do better?
woof woof bark bark woof arf arf arf
Sorry, I'm not here to read you, but will block whatever bs you're trying to pull.
aww
They don't care about the content obviously, but they love when you just give them attention. You can see the dogs are engaged with their child
Yeah, I just have the idea that they prefer a ball to a book.
Probably true but I'm still happy that someone spends some time with them. Perhaps they get to play with the kids as well
I hope so.
Plus, don't forget that the kids also get practice time reading, so it brutally slaughters 2 birds with 1 stone
Heyhey, we don't say that here. We say crushes two orphans with one machine!
Ya, practice with a non-judgemental listener that's really cute even
Why can't the kids just read to each other if they feel alone. Stoopid.
What's actually happening in the picture? I'm out of context
