Party two doors down and over the back fence. Two bouzoukis and a mandolin are having it out live and kicking, and the guests are cheering them on. Who needs recorded music???
I'm really enjoying it.

Whenever one of us is eating, little dog makes it a point to show us he's a good boy by sitting inches from you with some very intense staring. He even does it if I'm putting lip balm on or hand cream.

Heated wheat bag and hot water bottle, check.

Coffee check.

Blanket check.

Footy check.

Now I’m not moving.

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago (4 children)

Good plan. I feel like shit which is how I'm justifying doing sfa and chilling on the couch.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 5 points 6 months ago (3 children)

I'm absolutely feeling like trash today too. Physically and mentally. Pretty sure whatever I was recovering from has come back to hit me full on.

I'd hate football a hell of a lot less if it wasn't for there being 95 gambling ads per minute on every form of media capable of displaying ads, and how obnoxious drunk footgoers are. I don't go out anywhere on footy nights because I don't want to be subjected to the musings of the 975 football people, half of whom are sulking a trying to start brawls with the other half, which are cheering and gloating, and all of whom had about 12 drinks too many

I've been struck with a sudden midnight motivation to tidy my room! Huzzah!

Oven just went ping. Biscuits are done.

Might have one now while they’re hot, and the others can cool for the tin

I gave Ted Cat a small serve of prawn pate in a bowl , the bowl being placed on top of his new harness on the floor. This is to train him and was not his dinner.

Now Bill is yelling at me, telling me his dinner of fresh beef mince meant for cats is not good enough.

They are now both asleep under the heater after a busy day of sleeping under the heater or yelling.

Spoiled.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago

I'd put the harness on for some prawn pate.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Brothers... maybe Bill cat should wear the harness so Ted cat will want it

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 6 months ago

I tried that first. They both hate it but at least Bill let me put it on him.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Went to the footy today with my daughter. On the way out had to stop at the gent's. some young lads were kind of trying to chat her up whilst I was absent, nothing rude or lewd.

The looks on their faces when she said 'Hey dad' and I stood there towering over them.

Kind of feel bad for their egos, but watching them scurry away was pretty comical.

Despite living in the equivalent of woop woop, one thing I love is having the studio. When I feel sick I can zonk in front of the computer and make noises lol

Finally have some decent weather so I'm going to tackle the garage and hopefully get the last of it cleaned out.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I might water the garden 😉

I watched border security for the first time in yonks. I don't know what it is about "woman tries to bring in 9kg of undeclared rotting food" of "man tries to bring in 17 dead lobsters" that's so fucking funny but this and highway patrol are like peak television. Who needs strange things or blue is the new beige, people breaking the law and getting in deep shit is all you need

Oh dear... last night I pulled a (very light, empty) chest of drawers out of the wardrobe so I could vacuum inside the wardrobe and spray Frontline inside the fabric drawers. I put it by the window and lay a small bookcase on its side next to it.

I thought Melbcat could use the bookcase as steps to get up on the low wide chest and lie there in the sun. It's wider and more comfortable than the sill. But she's just doing traumatized little howls because I'm cleaning and have moved things.

Oh man, I just realised some of my rants about scent and chemicals on here come off as a bit cooked.

For people who aren't familiar - I have an elderly asthmatic cat who used to require emergency vet trips and use inhalers before I eliminated nearly all scent and aerosols from the house, have extremely sensitive skin mild asthma and migraines myself, and used to be really mindful about chemicals because I was caring for a bird. (Birds can die if you cook in a non-stick pan around them.)

Using simpler and fewer products is also cheaper and more environmentally friendly.

I promise I vaccinate and don't have an issue with 5G.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 8 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Haha omg melba, I never had the assumption that you're a cooker! Don't stress it!

I took your advice about vinegar for carpet moths and it's worked a treat! No more grubs have come out of the carpet. Apparently the acidity damages the grubs and eggs, so I hope I've broken the cycle. But I'm super thankful because I was stressed about that bug spray chemical that cats can't metabolise. You are a legend! 💜

I think most people understand you are a diligent cat carer.

Online is being legislated againOh wow these new laws are something else... pr0n is gated behind age verification in Texas and under-18s are now barred from having social media accounts without parental permission in Utah. I'm still trying to work out what the latest with KOSA is

It seems like something that might not affect all of us, but the thing is that many sites are hosted in America and subject to US law. And the material being gunned for also includes anything to do with LGBTIA+, sexual health information, or seeking terminations.

So there's the possibility that even if you're not a citizen you may be asked to provide ID to use American social media or general websites. Or the owners may try to scrub the site of that information/certain users.

I was aware of this stuff being fought but now it's slowly starting to go into effect.

Edit: Yikes. Mental health resources/information and political information could be targeted as well

Hmm. Potential problem. I dropped my bowl of ice cream on the floor and told it it was an arsehole. My computer wasn't a fan of that and turned off. Then it got stuck on a black screen and I had to switch it off at the PSU to make it stop. Then it booted up perfectly normally like nothing ever happened which I don't know is meant to be better or worse than a BSOD.

I dug through the event logs and the 2 errors I noticed were both related to graphics card issues. I really hope it's not a graphics issue (at least one I can't fix) because I do not have new GPU money, and my CPU doesn't have integrated graphics. But like most errors in windows, it can either be a direct or refered error. Apparently although the error comes from the GPU, it can be caused by anything stretching from a minor driver glitch to memory (RAM) problems.

It's never done it before and hasn't done it since, but I suspect it's probably because of the damage the fan sustained the other day. As far as I can tell, the wifi card only damaged the fan, so my suspicion is perhaps the fans not doing a very good job anymore so it overheated and shut down. But because windows doesn't believe in descriptive errors I can't really confirm or rule out anything

^ leaked footage of me trying to get any useful info out of windows

(That was meant to be a gif but uploading gifs to Aussie zone turns them into webMs for some reason so I just embedded the MP4. You'll probably need to click on it to animate)

TL;DR: I dropped my ice cream on the floor and called it an arsehole. My computer heard that and was like "mate if that's how you treat your people I'm going on fuckin strike you don't pay me enough" and windows is covering for it

I’m gonna get my biweekly run outta the way, though it would’ve been better in the rain

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago

I've tried out the new stick vacuum briefly, and it's not too bad. It is reasonably quiet and I'm glad of not needing to wrangle the cord.

I did not end up making the korma, because just the stew turned out to be So Much Food.

Four meals worth in the freezer. Three meals worth in the fridge. Plus dinner tonight, and the realisation that I’m out of plastic tubs with lids.

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 6 points 6 months ago (4 children)

If you'd made the korma food, you might just be in a food korma

I didn't feel like making pasta or anything to go with my leftover chunky meaty spicy peppers bolognese so I just ate it like a chilli. Is that weird? I put some cheese on it.
