Hello,

Basically, the question is in the title. Just curious as lemmy.one is the second biggest instance still on 19.2: https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy?version=0.19.2

Yeah, that same website says there are 4.8k "new" users here, so it doesn't add up.

The instance has email optional for registration, a lot of those new accounts might be bots.

The fact that there were only two comments on this post indicates more 300 users than 5k

AFAIK registrations get approved manually on this instance so I doubt it'd be bots, the admin isn't really active so I figured the instance was dying but I didn't realize it was that dead.

This is what the sidebar of the instance says too, so I would say it's right
