Some of the many things that surprised me:

  • They want to try all 19 at once
  • They want the trial within 6 months

This may be the most significant indictment, because the president can't pardon a state crime.

[–] DriftingDeep@lemm.ee 66 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Worth noting, in Georgia, neither can the Governor. It’s a secret pardon committee who does that, and that’s ONLY after a certain period of time has been served.

Ol’ Kemp can’t bail Trump out of this one.

[–] ashok36@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The only play for them at this point would be to somehow remove Willis and replace her with someone that will tank the case on purpose.

[–] DriftingDeep@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It’s a random selection of judges now. There are 19 judges, and the computer assigns the case at random now that the indictment has been handed in. Worst game of Russian roulette.

[–] ashok36@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Someone still has to try the case. If they cleaned house at the Fulton da office they could have some sycophant show up to court and literally just tank the entire case.

Proud to be here with you all on this historic night. Hope it's RICO and hope Lindsey Graham is included.

[–] Lon3star@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Shockingly, Ole Lindsay wasn't included.

What the?!? Get out of my head!

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 41 points 1 year ago (5 children)

What crime hasn't Donald Trump committed at this point?

Unfucking believable....hes like destilled crime and a pile of shit wrapped up in lies.

[–] neoman4426@kbin.social 34 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

There are some bullshit laws making helping people illegal, like I think it's illegal to give food to a homeless person some places. Probably hasn't done that?

[–] grue@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Speaking of things happening in Atlanta, Trump also hasn't occupied the South River Forest in order to protest against Cop City, which is what one person recently got executed by the Georgia State Patrol for.

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Probably hasn't made moonshine. Though, maybe he did and that s why he's like this. Hard to say.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

That's a myth, donating food is a protected act so long as its done in good faith.

"Good Samaritan food donation protection act of 1996"

[–] VerdantSporeSeasoning@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Not a myth exactly. The good Samaritan is more about liability right? Well, some towns are designating only certain areas that people can give homeless food, in many senses punishing generosity to the poor.

He hasn't smoked weed. You can tell.

[–] PseudoSpock@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 year ago

Yet you filter his distilled crime through activated charcoal... and it still come out orange!

[–] nickhammes@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Given he's spent enough of his life flaunting his wealth, I'm guessing he usually gets driven by a chauffeur, and doesn't drive himself much. I'd totally believe he hadn't broken any DUI laws, but I wouldn't put it past him either.

[–] KIM_JONG_JUICEBOX@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I thought I read that he doesn’t like alcohol and hates drinkers. Which is odd given some of the people he associates with.

[–] ComradeKhoumrag@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

He's a more crack cocaine kind of guy

Love to see it, any news on what the indictments were for?

[–] negativenull@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not yet:

A grand jury in Atlanta handed up an indictment late Monday in a Georgia prosecutor’s investigation into efforts by Donald J. Trump and some of his key allies to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

But its details — including who is named in the indictment and what charges were brought — were not immediately clear. After a long day of the grand jurors hearing evidence, the full indictment is expected to be released later in the evening.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

the reports I'm seeing (guardian, for example) are saying 10 people are going to be receiving indictments. we don't know how many more felonies to tack on to Trumps record-setting list of indictments, just yet.

[–] Gargleblaster@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This says 10 indictments, and it's 4 minutes old.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

the OP is a stack of papers with an easily spoofed cover letter. It's hardly authoritative on it's own. I also can't make out any specific names. we're waiting for the details to become public. (so far as I know,) until then, it's all speculation. here is the guardian report that is apparently being updated in real time

edit: CNN has the indcitment, (though I can't verify it directly from Fulton County.)

41 counts of specific charges. My favorite belonging to trump is "impersonating a public official"

[–] runjun@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Impersonating a public official. Hahaha holy shit

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

RICO BABY!

That's what I wanted to see. Now to read the other 40

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

so, before you get too excited, chump is only charged with 13.

If this were for sale at the book store, I'd buy it. Even as an audio book on Audible... I'd buy it. Narated by Obama? I'd buy it twice!

[–] bestturtleboy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

This is pure gold, nice find and thanks for posting!

[–] MsPenguinette@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Still waiting on them to be processed and published but should happen before midnight EST according to the guardian

[–] NuPNuA@lemm.ee 22 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

As a Brit is is mad seeing all this stuff come out. I know he and Boris got a lot of comparisons, but Boris went down mainly due to his lying about having a party in lockdown which is nothing compared to this.

[–] MooDib@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

Trump isn't even down. Here's still by far the favorite to win the Republican primary and be in the presidential race. Despite all of these things he continues to have a rabid following that will easily say all of this is just a setup. Cult 45 isn't just a moniker, they truly are very cult-like.

[–] chris2112@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Says a lot about the different cultures too because here in the US a politician lying about having a party during lockdown would be praised by conservatives for sticking up for their "freedoms"

[–] Dressedlikeapenguin@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] downpunxx@kbin.social 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–] NoIWontPickaName@kbin.social 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] Selmafudd@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's no breaks on the Justice Train 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃 one car for each jurisdiction

[–] teft@startrek.website 12 points 1 year ago (3 children)

What's he up to now? 90 charges? 100?

[–] semibreve42@reddthat.com 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] STUPIDVIPGUY@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 year ago

still gotta get the prosecution through though

but i too am hopeful that justice will be served

[–] Gargleblaster@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

[–] Dark_Arc@social.packetloss.gg 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

[–] remotelove@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago
