I heard there will be a large demonstration in Jakarta and some places in Indonesia.

Here's a guide on how to protect your data security during a protest from EFF, not much but I hope it helps even a bit.

@snoozzze @firefox Yeah, it is pretty bad.

Funny that their use of Mythos didn't fix this vuln, or maybe they only care about their computer Web Browser.

😩

@throws_lemy Kebanyakan di X sih mereka mainnya, di Fediverse juga ada kalau disearch.

Yes, it may seem like that. But, truthfully people screaming about data breach, Komdigi doing shit etc. Meaning at least our citizen has a base understanding about data privacy.

We also have SAFEnet.

But, if we just keep waiting, Komdigi or goverment or privacy hater will keep winning, and we ain't gonna able to do any usable shit

I am sorry talking about politic now. Just a short comment on latest Pandji video.

It is already proven that the source of the problem is the closest people around our president.

And those main problems are specifically using a certain ministry to do media filtering or censorship.

I will not throw names or the ministry. You already know which one.

Indonesia's Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs has a plan to make social media registration using phone number as mandatory.

And you know what?

I am feeling tired handling these anti-privacy news.

I am abstain in commenting of #Nadiemmakarim and #ibrahimarief case.

Since I do not get the real full picture yet.

But, if persecution of tech people are possible.

The making of strong organization/community that handle digital rights or defending people from digital persecution (like EFF) are more imminent for Indonesia.

There is a proposal of "Right to be forgotten" to be added to Human Rights Law in Indonesia.

a.k.a another potential censorship tool to clean "elites criminal records" in the name of privacy.

Doing compromise is possible, like what Wikipedia did to prevent themselves from getting blocked... while also preventing goverment to disturb Wikipedia ecosystem.

[-] AmmarSpaces@infosec.exchange 1 points 5 months ago

Maybe I already started this concern with yall in your latest podcast on X lately. Maybe yall call me being too paranoid.

But seeing again what happened lately... I think my concerns are valid, and we need to prepare before the worst happens.

Our nation see and copy other nations policy, if they "like" it. They will follow it blindly.

I am no expert or having the power yet to do preventions, but at least I can say what I have concerned...

2

Have some thoughts lately...

Indonesian nerds or activist who cares about privacy should have started to follow to make our own version of EFF (Electronic Frontiers Foundation), The Citizen Lab, Cult of Dead Cow, etc... who focused on advocating, brainstorms, doing campaigns, promoting, educating the goverment regarding digital rights.

We have seen what Komdigi trying to do so far, it just the starting point, and it will get worse day by day, unless WE educate our goverment the right way to do digital rights.

Why?

If you think again, the goverment has the right for concern regarding negativity on what they do. BUT, what they did is oriented with nations that do not like about digital rights, you know which countries, I am talking about.

Our nation is on their way doing digital sovereignity, WHICH IS I REALLY 100% SUPPORT, because west nations are starting being an assholes lately.

What I have seen so far is that activist, nerds, etc who are aware... is just being reactive, not preventive. We have seen that Komdigi following what England do for digital verification.

They will start to follow what other nation did to "protect" nation interest.

C word nation with their digital firewall, they might follow it (cough TKPPSE)

Turning off internet like "I" word? Already happened in Papua before.

But, we can prevent it (hypothetically) by educating and give our own solution with the goverment.

OR WE make our own protection ourselves.

Screaming on social is okay, but it is still not enough, we need to scream and also make the solution. Prepare before the worst!

Sorry about my incoherent rambling, but I think this is important before I forget, and we need to start as fast as possible before our goverment sinking too late to safe. And we all be fucked because of it.
