Actually this kind of thing happens more often than you might think with mathematicians

For example Fermat’s Last Theorem

Oh good catch on the enantiomers, thanks, I was thinking about a different drug.

As for the rest, you didn’t say “Its an addictive medication” you said

It’s addictive to everyone the same way

Which is categorically false for basically any addictive drug in the world. Your brain and biochemistry are going to have a significant effect on whether or not you get addicted to a substance regardless of whether you take it in a “safe way” or not.

A great example of this is alcohol. People use alcohol in a not-so-safe way all the time (see: any college fraternity ever). However the “I’m so addicted to alcohol I’ll drink hand sanitizer to satisfy that craving” really doesn't show up very much despite binge drinking being common.

Taking addictive substances in a safe way reduces the chances of addiction in general but the actual likelihood of addiction is significantly impacted by the way the individual’s brain/body process it.

Addendum: Oh and the reason I went into detail about composition and addiction potential was because

k, try some meth kids

Made it sound like you might not have known there is a significant difference between meth and the more typical ADHD meds (AFAIK being prescribed actual meth quite is rare in general and even more unlikely for kids) so I thought I’d explain it

First of all, nope. While people with ADHD are not all just magically immune to addiction, I’ve yet to meet any ADHD person who hasn’t just forgotten to take their meds. Which really isn’t something addicts tend to do.

In fact, for some people—like myself—if I skip a dose, i kind of just stop taking my meds and it takes effort to start again. Like the opposite of withdrawal where i have to force myself to start taking them again.

Now this non-addiction is probably also influenced by the fact that adderall dosages are low enough that addiction is less likely in general regardless of neurodivergence.

Furthermore, adderall is dextroamphetamine not methamphetamine. They may look similar but the methyl group on the latter is actually enough to change its behavior significantly. Meth’s uptake is much faster —and thus the effect is stronger—than dextroamphetamine.

There are other things which slow the uptake too, like the anion for adhd meds tends to be sulfate or saccharate (or a mix of both) while the anion for meth is HCl which makes much easier to dissolve and thus gives meth stronger/faster acting effects both of which increase addiction potential.

Lastly, ADHD meds like Adderall are built to slow the uptake even further. The dose is not entirely comprised of dextroamphetamine salts but also levoamphetamine which is several times weaker than dextroamphetamine in regards to reuptake and production of dopamine.

Edit: Removed the incorrect explanation of the left handed enantiomer.

This’s anti-twink propaganda

What a misleading comic. The photon is cheating because it’s actually a wave existing everywhere and then just has to decide to collapse in the cow’s eye.

Reasons to not worry about death specifically because you worry about death:

  1. Every moment you spend worrying about death is a moment you aren’t spending truly alive. If you’re worried about running out of time, then why would you want to keep wasting time worrying?
  2. Stress—like that from constant worry—quite literally kills you both physically and psychologically. The more stressed you are the more wear and tear both your body and brain experience. So not only is worry wasting your life, it is also shortening it; in other words, worrying about death is actually bringing you closer to it.

Horrible? You are regularly committing war crimes. So definitely

Yeahh rotten breath alone probably counts as a violation of the Geneva Conventions

Oh I was so hyped to see the ancient dragon man just because I had started playing DS3 right before SOTE. But yeah id say he’s still horrible little man material

Also on the lines of Eleonora, I’d say Varre is a pretty solid choice for horrible little man too. He might be taller than the player but even if he was, he just feels like a creepy little evil guy

Oof, those rat dudes sound like hell even if they aren't a boss. Definitely horrible-little-man material

A cursed fragile looking self flagellating corpse that eventually beheads itself? Yeah I think that counts as a horrible little man even if phase two is a literal god lol

The comment in the image is about the Lamenter from SOTE which, I have to say, was NOT my favorite horrible little man boss.

Personally I liked Onze since I just didn't expect the boss to be a tiny demihuman, nor did I expect said tiny demihuman to kick my ass. Plus his sword and lore are pretty cool.

Evolution doesn't make mistakes because evolution just is. Like entropy, it’s just a kind of pattern/behavior that can emerge from complex systems.

Sometimes evolution leads animals to have traits that become unfavorable enough to prevent traits from being passed on; thats not a mistake, its literally the driving principle of evolution.

As for self awareness, theres lots of gray area in that term. However, social structures have emerged numerous times across the tree of life. Those structures require at least some self awareness. Very successful animals seem to have more self awareness than others because when you interact with beings like you it’s useful to know they are beings like you.

Point is that if knowing what other members of your species might be doing is useful to you or your species survival—which it typically is for tool weilding species—social awareness and self awareness will eventually be selected.

You aren’t self aware because evolution thought “I should make something self aware.” You’re self aware because thinking meant your ancestors could reproduce more. They invented language because naming things made thinking easier and allowed group thinking which allowed them to reproduce more. And eventually they named something “self awareness.”

The fun part about PhDs is that some of them are hella specific so we can come up with a really long name for a fake area of study and it still is somewhat believable.

It’s just difficult to combine all the parts of your username. The best I can think of rn is to say you got your degree in Costal Human Ecology by researching pharmacokinetics in relation to reproductive biology.

At no point in my lifetime has there not been war going on in the Middle East. Are we going to run out of boots or faces first I wonder? Or will it really just last forever?

The seven deadly sins are all things that have a serious negative impact on you and your life if you give into them too much. They’re all very general habits/feelings/desires that most people feel/experience which can lead you to hurt yourself and/or others, and haste/impatience checks both those boxes.

And I suppose as “sins” they’re supposed to lead you to do “un-Christian” things, but impatience probably does that more than sloth, right? Like you’re much more likely to hurt yourself and/or others if you do things fast without thinking than you are by just sitting and doing nothing all day.

I guess all of the sins are also all some form of carelessness too which also applies to being hasty or impatient.
