There are other benefits to the tool that may be more meaningful for your usage, but of course I wouldn't claim there's anything wrong with using the tools you like.
I think when I used pyenv it was the single slowest part of my shell initialization.

I made a CLI tool for working with it but want to avoid making a look-at-me spammy post, and I think the NestedText site itself explains the ideas pretty well already.
I don't know about k8s work in particular, but I enjoy jello and yamlpath more than jq and yq.
