Who is to say that Snopes was the gold standard?

On August 13, 2021, BuzzFeed News published an investigation by reporter Dean Sterling Jones that showed David Mikkelson had used plagiarized material from different news sources in 54 articles between 2015 and 2019 in an effort to increase website traffic.[

The shareholder that became a CEO had owned a huge chunk of snopes for years. They just made it official.

I also work with project managers who also want things one day, then want the opposite thing another day.

Jokes aside... If you're helping your homies recover from a party, you're the real champ.

Sample: 467 college students from Turkey; average age of 21 years old (range of 18 to 29 years); 83 percent female.

I'm glad this Psychology Today article is actually sharing the sample data. Not fully sure what to make of it.

We don't like to brag about it but we fought the Brits in the War of 1812, one of the things we took from England was Greek literature. In turn, we Americans lost the definition of jams vs jelly and the superior spelling of "colour".

A shortage of engineers willing to work for Musk-led companies, maybe.

Not maybe at all. Every tech group I'm in would rather work fast food than do a 90 hour week under Musk.

I used to be in a group during the 2022-2023 era where we shared memes of recruiters who were trying to convince engineers to go to Twitter. The meme well dried up when all the recruiters were fired.

Well he saw that the only people willing to work at Twitter were extremely desperate to stay in the country

They’re gathering by the thousands. They’re growing fast. They believe that Democrats are possessed by demons—and that Donald Trump must be president again at any cost.

The reasoning was simple: Each of the Christians assembled would soon feel a call to become a poll watcher or to knock on doors or to organize their church—to take part in some act that would aid the Republican presidential candidate. And that act would keep them safe, the prophet said, because God would not call them home before they had completed the task He had given them.

Ripped parts of the post:

The bacteria is best known for causing a type of food poisoning called "Fried Rice Syndrome," since rice is sometimes cooked and left to cool at room temperature for a few hours. During that time, the bacteria can contaminate it and grow. B. cereus is especially dangerous because it produces a toxin in rice and other starchy foods that is heat resistant and may not die when the food it infects is cooked.

And

Unfortunately, that was the case for a 20-year-old student, who passed away after eating five-day-old pasta.

His story was described in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology a few years back, but has since resurfaced due to some YouTube videos and Reddit posts. According to article, every Sunday the student would make his meals for the entire week so he wouldn't need to deal with making it on the weekdays. One Sunday, he cooked up some spaghetti, then put it in Tupperware containers so that days later, he could just add some sauce to it, reheat it and enjoy it.

However, he didn't store the pasta in the fridge, rather he left it out on the counter. After five days of the food sitting out at room temperature, he heated some up and ate it. While he noticed an odd taste to the food, he figured it was just due to the new tomato sauce he added to it.

It was only in 1969 (nice) that fungi officially became its own separate kingdom.

The Australian eSafety commissioner took the matter to the Federal Court after X Corp challenged a $610,500 fine in September 2023.

The fine stemmed from an infringement notice issued by eSafety because X Corp had not provided information about how it was meeting the basic online safety expectations in relation to child sexual exploitation and abuse material and activity on Twitter.

In a 30-second hearing at the Federal Court in Melbourne on Friday, Justice Michael Wheelahan dismissed the proceeding and order X Corp to pay eSafety’s legal costs.

There have been at least 50 school shootings in the United States so far this year, as of September 19. Thirteen were on college campuses, and 37 were on K-12 school grounds. The incidents left 24 people dead and at least 66 other victims injured, according to CNN’s analysis of events reported by the Gun Violence Archive, Education Week and Everytown for Gun Safety.

The lawsuit stems from an incident on December 29, 2023, when Manis was pulled over in Monroe County for allegedly having illegally tinted windows, a claim Manis denies.

According to the complaint, Manis was cooperative and respectful during the stop, and Trooper Riley Shreiner noted that there was no sign of intoxication or marijuana smell.

However, the situation escalated when Trooper William Yates-Matoy recognized Manis as the brother of someone he knew and insisted that Manis had marijuana in his car, despite no evidence. Yates-Matoy then accused Manis of being under the influence because his eyes were red, which Manis attributed to just waking up.

Republicans in Arizona over the past several years have enacted proof-of-citizenship requirements for registered voters with the purported goal of eliminating the threat of undocumented immigrants from voting.

However, Just Security reports that many of these same Republicans have been changing their tune recently after they discovered that the law would purge a large number of registered Republicans.

Overall, registered Republicans represented 37 percent of the voters affected by the glitch, while registered Democrats made up 27 percent and unaffiliated voters represented 29 percent.

Trump reported millions in negative income in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020, and he paid only $750 in federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017.
