I believe, and I could be very wrong, that it kills the largest memory process. The problem is that it may not be the problematic process. You could have a well behaved DB that is using a stable 80%, and a runaway process that rapidly fills the remaining 20%, and OOM will kill the DB, and let the out of control process keep consuming memory until it becomes the largest. Then your DB is down and you don't known why.

I like the idea of just killing processes at random though. Determinism is overrated.

I'm a little shocked that he can read. Maybe they just bolded all the times he gets to say "family".

Yes, it's a legal requirement in Australia.

There are fringe groups who vote consistently. If you don't use your vote, those fringe groups become the majority, and you end up with politicians that don't represent the majorities interests.

There is always a greater evil that can be voted against, even if it means voting for a lesser evil.

A different angle of this was the w11 picture recently I think? Looks really cool.

While human developers bring intuitive understanding

Well.... some do.

Jokes aside, I don't think this is an undiscussed topic, and ultimately, the solution is the same as it as always been: project culture. Project leaders need to insist that code is responsibly written and reviewed, and to make it part of the team culture. AI doesn't change that.

Okay, I see we have some confusion, when you said "new retro", I was thinking of the N64 raspi thing that came out last year. Those did have a manufacturer warranty.

In terms of second hand consoles, yes, no warranty, but, it's still not messing around with emulators, it should play the games largely as expected.

Phone attached controller might be cheaper, but surely you can see that its a significantly worse experience than a properly built console?

That isn't exclusively true. Programs can capture SIGTERM and ignore it, or do as they please, SIGKILL is non-negotiable though.

Windows does have an equivalent to SIGKILL as well, in taskkill /F.

Edit: I am wrong, but leaving the comment intact so I can be judged for my ignorance:

Louise Adler is on the Advisory Committee of the Jewish Council of Australia, a community organisation representing non-Zionist Australian Jews supporting human rights for Palestinians.[1]

I guess that org doesnt do what it says on the tin...

You used so many subjective terms in that description. You can draw the line at a number, that is objective (but see tax evasion for how that works in practice), but "heavy worker exploitation" is entirely subjective.

In my mind, most failing hospitality businesses fall into "heavy worker exploitation", but many of them are owner by people who arent billionaires.

Switch from bios to uefi boot mode (or vice versa)?

Sometimes called legacy bios or something? From a quick google, might be called CSM
