When the battery dies, the glasses continue to function as a traditional pair of single-vision specs, ensuring the wearer is never left in the dark or have safety compromised such as when driving or operating machinery.

It may surprise you to know that people produced music before IP laws existed.

Which need is satistied is important here. Sexual gratification is not the same as an apparent need to interact with someone who affirms everything you tell it to, basically acting as a personality mirror. And then falling in love with something that echoes your every thought does have a semblance of narcissism involved.

Taking the dildo metaphor: having a dildo isn't narcissistic. Being a dude and having a dildo molded after your own dick and exclusively using that as it's "the best thing ever", does seem a bit narcissistic, no?

It's a pretty simple concept. Train any kind of model on only "good" data, and it fails to distinguish between that data and bad data.

Take image recognition. Feed it hundreds of images of an orange and ask it to find the orange. After training, it will be very good at finding that orange.

Then add a picture of a Pomeranian dog in there, and watch as the model confidently marks it as an orange.

The model should have been trained on lots of images that don't feature what you want it to output as well, so it knows to distinguish that.

Rumor has it that Marvel was worried it would bomb, and naming it "New Avengers" would put them in an awkward position moving forward. Thunderbolts was the backup-insurance-title basically.

Now that the movie seems to be doing well, it's getting its proper title.

  • Some GOP congressman, probably depressingly soon.

The Guardian is decent. Articles can definitely be opinionated and not all columnists are equally good, but I haven't read anything particularly egregious yet. And their investigative journalism is quite good compared to other media outlets imo.

They also clearly mark articles that are old as being old (warning you to check more recent sources), which I quite like.

It's one of the few outlets that seems to have an opinion rather than an agenda, if that makes sense. Their viewpoint is left of center, but they make this fairly clear and they're pretty factual and offer nuanced alternative viewpoints most of the time. They don't seem like they're sneakily trying to convince you of stuff, it's just a "Here's what we think about what happened".

So? There's not much value in past comments/posts is there? Like, how often do you look back on those?

[-] ChairmanMeow@programming.dev 13 points 2 years ago

Yes, that was the joke. Clearly people didn't get it.
