I just watched Hit Man, which claims there aren't any such thing as hit men in real life - clearly that's not the case!

Lots of the industrial programming languages are very different to "normal"/"proper" programming languages, and I can see them being localised.

I happily use Helix for Rust, etc projects, and as a general editor. I switch back to VSCode for TypeScript/Svelte projects because the plugins make it more productive for me. I do miss the editing experience and need to check if there's a VSCode plugin that lets me not confuse my muscle memory.

Helix was the thing that finally made me remap my caps lock key to esc.

The push seems to be to get native species back to their previous numbers - wouldn't an American duck be considered an invasive species? Or are they only called invasive when they're upsetting the balance?

I'd assumed it was servers running on renewable power, although I'm not sure how they measure that. I know some hosting companies and CDNs have that as an option, but I don't see how you'd know if each server chose that option so I guess it's more like "servers with green hosting companies".

Interesting/useful bits:

• The term “climate change” was initially popularized by Republicans under G.W. Bush as they wanted a softer term that sounded less “frightening”. It's a better term though, because it covers non-temperature effects like ocean acidification.
• A warmer atmosphere means more water can be held in the air, which leads to more rain (often more extreme) but also more droughts as warmer air can remove more water from an area.
• The fact that the climate has (slowly) changed in the past doesn't mean we aren't causing change now. The faulty logic is akin to People have died of cancer in the past; therefore, cigarettes don’t cause cancer now.
• NOAA projects 3.5 feet to 7 feet sea-level rise along America’s coastlines by 2100.
• Unsurprisingly, windmills aren't driving whales “a little batty”. Also, wind farms are responsible for just 0.03% of all human-related bird deaths in the U.S. and onshore wind is one of the cheapest ways to generate electricity.
• The primary reason the US Army wants to electrify its fighting vehicles is to reduce wartime casualties (no need for refuelling missions and electric is stealthier due to being quieter and cooler).

Let's say I'm riffing on the Trek Drake meme, but I use AI to generate the image for one of the panels (instead of maybe grabbing a screenshot). I feel this is effort enough to be allowed (as opposed to just sticking something in a prompt and posting the results). What do you think?
