If you’d rather not block the whole community
Other options are changing your sorting method. Like if they're currently dominating the Hot feed, they're probably not also dominating the Top 12hr feed, just switch to that.

I think the only controversial one here is "Flagship graphics cards".
I agree that they wouldn't be worth it for a lot of people, but their performance per dollar has actually been pretty competitive with the lower tier GPUs. The other things on their list don't give you nearly as much improvement for your money.
And if you include AIO-cooled models in the discussion, there's no telling how much money you'll end up wasting on a graphics card, which is just one component of your PC.
This part makes sense though, the 3rd party AIO models can get crazy.
the Lemmy devs are currently working on a plugin system https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/4695
That would make community names a bit longer so they'd be more annoying to type and share?
I do think there could be some features added to help avoid full defederation. Like if instance admins could set a default list of banned instances, and the users could choose to unban those instances for themselves. Of course defederation could still be necessary sometimes like for illegal content, software bugs, or malicious attacks.
the Mastodon user has to do an @ tag for the community in their toot, so if @community@instance.com is in their toot then it'll show up on that Lemmy community
if we wanted to keep the word instance then yea "default instance" isn't bad, or maybe "home instance"
sorry I meant sorting the posts by "New Comments"

I'm curious what post this is from lol
Yes I always thought Reddit's rules against self promotion were pretty dumb. Like how did Reddit want people to find out about cool new things that Redditors make? From other news sources and then post to Reddit afterwards? That makes no sense and just means Reddit is the last place to find out about the cool thing that the Redditor made.
Now with Lemmy and KBin we have the chance to self promote again, and we need more posts anyways.
There was even some tanks/aircraft mini game, like Worms Armageddon? I think you had to unlock it, possibly with cheat codes.
at the title screen, type in "DESTRUCT"

I had so much fun with that mini game I can't even believe they just had it hidden in there. It honestly could've been sold as its own game
No I think you're right, give them an instance. They won't have enough knowledge to choose an instance anyways. If they don't like the one you gave them then they can move later.
