This is a system for keeping track of friendships between NPCs and PCs, which also allows NPCs to fall in love - if there is chemistry. It was written with Solo play in mind, but it would also work for group play. I've written a similar system before, but that one turned out to be too complex and require too much bookkeeping for my taste.

Let's have a look at an overview of how this system works.

  1. Bond points are gained or lost by NPCs to keep track of how your relationship with them is going. They apply to both friendly and romantic relationships.
  2. Action rolls are how Bond points are gained or lost, and they come in two categories: Friendship Actions and Romance Actions.
  3. Friendship Actions are actions which could strengthen your bond with an NPC, such as engaging in conversation, giving gifts, or even going on adventures together.
  4. Friendship downtime events can happen during downtime, once a friendship has taken place.
  5. Chemistry rolls are necessary before any Romance Actions can take place. There can be no consent to romance without chemistry, and chemistry is outside of your control. Romance can not be forced.
  6. Romance Actions become available if chemistry has been established, and allows for various types of courting activities such as dating, kissing, other types of physical intimacy, and even marriage proposals.
  7. Romance downtime events are things that happen in romantic relationships during downtime and can involve anything from the NPC revealing a secret or making a suggestion, to relationship conflicts and breakups.

Well, I at least appreciate them not trying to spin this by calling it a price "adjustment" or something. They straight up say - in the title, even - that this is a price increase. No BS, no spin, they're openly admitting it and explaining their reasons. Very few companies do this.

Right, but that shouldn't give me a 404, bad gateway, or gateway timeout from ttrpg.network itself - which is what tends to happen.

But I always accessing ttrpg.network. That's the server I use. So if I "hit a server" which is having issue - this is the one. It doesn't matter that content is federated in from other servers - I'm not accessing them directly, I'm just going to https://ttrpg.network/.

How would federation be the issue? I don't understand. Do you mean that the federation process somehow overloads the servers?

I see. Thanks for the info. I signed up for a small monthly contribution to help offset the hosting costs.

It seems to me that about 20% to 50% of when I click on a post here, or reload a page or something, I get an error. Is it only me, or does the server not have enough resources or something?

Well, I'm ashamed to say - not very much. Or at least not nearly as much as I would want, as the GM. And it's nobody's fault but my own.

The campaign is supposed to be a sandbox, but due to time constraints and procrastination, I rarely end up spending enough time to prep more than one path forward. There are occasional forks in the path at the end of sessions where I ask them what they would like to do in the next session, and then that becomes the one prepped path for the next session. I'm working on this. My goal is to start prepping earlier so that I have more time to prep different options. Also, prep is more fun when I start 10 days before the next session, rather that 3 hours before it.

Depending on your needs and how technical you are, Emacs and org-roam might work for you. It's what I use. But my notes are strictly text, so I'm not sure how good image support is if that's something you need.

Is it legal in the US to shoot people who are trying to kidnap you?

I mean, anyone can go around claiming to be law enforcement or ICE or whatever, but with no badge or ID, how are people supposed to know that this isn't a gang trying to trafic them?
