It's referring to events that did actually happen. In 1979, Sweden officially classified homosexuality as an illness. The country has strong employee protection for calling in sick. Some Swedes used this to protest the classification by calling out of work claiming they were feeling too gay to come into work that day. The government soon reversed the decision classifying homosexuality as an illness.

The truck I drove as a teenager had a gas gauge that only worked if I'd recently hit a hard bump. It would stop working again after 5 or 10 minutes. It had to have been caused by a loose connection somewhere, but we never did find it. I'd just hit a pothole every so often when I wanted to know how much gas I had.

It had other issues as well. The speedometer was only correct right at 32 mph. It read low at higher speeds, and high at lower speeds. The roof was chopped all the way across to make a sun roof, and leaked horribly around the seals. The chop job also meant that the frame flexed very noticeably whenever I went over a bump. None of this was our fault, I'd like to point out. It had all of these issues, and more besides, when my parents bought it from the idiots who owned it before.

Chickens are only flightless if you clip their flight feathers. They are not very good flyers, but an adult chicken with intact feathers can fly a good 20 or 30 ft at a stretch. That said, a good rooster, made flightless or not, will try to fuck you up if given the chance.

Wait, what hidden control mechanisms are baked into Piefed?

This is the very essence of Christian Nationalism.

On the off chance they do hear about it, they will immediately dismiss it as deep-state lies. No further thoughts on the matter will be needed.

I mean, they're not wrong.

In my youth I delivered pizza for a local restaurant. For a little while we had a "Ultimate Pepper Pizza" on the menu which had bell pepper, pepperoncini pepper, banana pepper, and jalapeno pepper on it. It was not very popular and they eventually dropped it from the menu, much to the great disappointment of one of the owners. One time we made one for ourselves with habanero (and for some reason crinkle-cut fries) added to it. It tasted amazing.

Note for Americans not up on British English: Public school as used here does not mean what it means in American English. It's what Americans would call a private prep school; an expensive non-government school mostly for well connected rich kids.

To expand on the other reply, this is very much a violation of official US flag code. However, under our constitution, the flag code is in no way legally enforceable on civilians. The only consequences of this would be social, and since most people aren't aware of or don't care about official flag code, no trouble will likely result.

Sure, but I'm not willing to photograph that.

I assume they meant to fly it at half-mast, but I feel that them dunking it in the gutter by mistake instead is oddly poetic.

I'm surprised I haven't seen someone else do this already.

I think what really grabbed people's attention is that he kept refusing to explain why he wanted to do that.

Whatever his reason was, it was such a stupid thing to be memeing about that I felt at home here right away. Edit: this was a while back now, during the first big migration from reddit after the API change protests.
