I think some people are being a bit of privacy freaks, so they don't want to leave their data online. I still think its stupid tho cuz Ive posted questions, get a good response but forget after a while. Then when I do go back to remind myself, its deleted.

Does anyone understand the Pearson coefficient part enough to explain it? I don't really understand why they're measuring correlation between memory, energy, and time in that way/ how you'd interpret it.

Mint is a great distro to choose for initially switching. The difference between using mint and raspian is that mint has a lot more GUIs for setting, packages, etc. Don't make the mistake I did and make sure you use those for peace of mind. You can always do a live boot to see if any software you want to use actually works on your system running mint. Also, make sure you back up every important file before messing with any of this.

I have games installed but I mostly just write programs for fun now. I usually don't get a ton of time to play games, plus they haven't been as fun as they used to be as a kid.

The problem with interpretation is that, if you can make a convincing argument about why something should be seen a specific way, youll have people see it that way. Same thing here. I agree that it's a possible interpretation, but it also just depends on who you're talking to. Point being others in the comments with wildly differing views, but with justifications that are equally as valid. Who knows what's the right interpretation, your guess is as good as anyone's.

Start up a fresh VM in the distro you're using and follow instructions on how to initialize it there. If you do this and it works on the VM, you'll know it's some sort of system config error instead of a user error. I have no other ideas bc I've never done that before but best of luck :)
