Yesterday, there was news of publishers doing the same. Let's see what other industries follow.

 

The lawsuit opens a new front in the ongoing battle between creators and tech companies over AI training for infringement.

Last year, Amazon and Google-backed Anthropic had to pay $1.5bn.

Hopefully, the first of many to come...

 

There are many ways to browse YouTube without ads.

So rather use that subscription to support your favourite creators directly.

Including a concern that Google's Pentagon deal could mean mass surveillance of EU citizens.

Google's own staff don't trust them anymore... we shouldn't either.

This change would continue with a series of updates in which Google is pushing its AI search as the default experience.

Fortunately, there are many excellent alternatives out there... no better time to switch.

To name a few: Browser -> Vivaldi, Firefox, Waterfox and Ecosia Search -> Ecosia, Ecosia, Kagi and DuckDuckGo

 

Another major institution is moving away from Big Tech. More are expected to follow

 

For critical public contracts, vendors will be required to ensure that software and hardware are made in the EU.

This will have massive implications for competition and the fight against Google, Amazon and Microsoft's dominance.

 

Fantastic initiative! The more major institutions push alternatives, the quicker the word can spread of the excellent alternatives out there.

The layoffs could be as high as 20% of the company!

We can't keep rewarding Big Tech for choosing AI over people.

It is truly horrifying when you drill into the numbers.

I can see that it MIGHT be useful as a tool for medical professionals, but exposing it to the public is an insane risk.

Yeah also did that for my recent site using StaticBuilder and Codeberg. Took longer but well worth supporting smaller businesses.

CachyOS could be in the gaming box

Fair enough - haven't tried it myself so went off some peoples comments. I'll do a deeper dive into EndeavorOS but likely needs to be put in a different category.
